Perk slimmed down

I mean WOW!
He must be serious about this year.
Wonder if he will be noticably quicker and more mobile.
Maybe also his block shots will go back to 1,8 - 2,0 per game.

Perk slimmed down

Wow, he really does look a lot slimmer. He had some room to go. On the negative side, it'll be interesting to see how it affects his man to man post D. That's been his big anchor for a long time and a big part of that has just been sheer mass.

A big part of that is his footwork and positioning too though. So much of the work in the paint is done off ball and he's good there.

Loss of upper body mass is not a big deal for a post defender. Loss of lower body strenght is.

Dennis Rodman could slow Shaq down and he was like 30 pounds lighter and 5 inches smaller.

Through January of the 2009-10 season, Kendrick Perkins had played 1306 MP in 45 games (29.02 MPG.) From February until the end of the season, he played in another 33 games and saw 847 MP (25.67 MPG.)

GM# -- P36 -- R36 -- B36
1-45 -- 14.5 -- 10.5 -- 2.5
46-78-- 11.3 -- 9.14 -- 1.8

It was sometime in January of that year the he first started dealing with knee tendinitis. Of course, it would come to pass that he blew out that same knee against the Lakers in the Finals.

I may be wrong but I believe that Perkins, once his confidence returns to that 2009-10 level, could provide the same level of all around impact for the ThunderSonics. A good sign of this will be when he sets up on the left block, turns over his right shoulder, power dribbles, steps-through and elevates from mid-lane for a virtually unblockable fadeaway. It was just this shot that he was really starting to utilize in the beginning of the 2010 season before the tendinitis started to bother him sometime around mid-January.

Like this season, Perkins was in phenomenal shape to start the 2010 season.
