So Close to a Title.

Post#1 » by CollegeToPros » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:01 pm

Celtics fan here.

I believe this Thunder team is so close to a title. They need another scorer and back up big man.

Ray Allen and one of the Celtics back up bigs would make the Thunder unbeatable.

Ray Ray doesnt fit the C's anymore (sad to say because he is awesome to have). He doesnt rebound or defend, but his scoring ability can still be elite with the right pieces around him. His shot is still A+ good.

What would it take for a Ray Allen for James Harden swap. On the Thunder, Ray being a third option to score would be unreal against the finesse western conference. Only concern would be Westbrook passing to him and future 4 time Champ Durant.

My Celtics need to get younger and I think James Harden is a solid place to start.

Ray Allen and Brandon Bass for James Harden. something along these lines.

As much as I would love to have Ray Allen with the Thunder, there is no way I would sacrifice Harden.
Right now I would say they are about equal strong players, but Harden has 13 years left and Ray Allen has 3.
I dont even know what I would give up for Ray Allen, that would be a fair deal, probably there is none.
Maybe if Boston would include Rondo and do a Westbrook+Thabo for Rondo+Ray. Maybe.

I'd love Ray on the team as currently constructed but I'm not giving up Harden or Ibaka for him.

I expected that reaction.

I remember when me and my fellow Celtics fans didnt want to trade Big AL for "Old" KG. Its normal we over hype our young players. We all do it. We all think they are some great scorer in the making.

I don't think Harden will hit the shots in the final 5 minutes the way Ray Allen will for you in the playoffs and finals.

Titles are won and lost in the final 5 minutes of playoff games.

This team is good enough to not have to mortgage its future for a year of Ray Allen, who isn't even better than Harden at this point. Those BOS teams pre-big three were going nowhere.

KG was 31 back then and Ray is gonna turn 37 this year. It's not a fair comparison.

Harden is not a great scorer "in the making", he IS already one.

You are right and that's what we have a Kevin Durant for.

Again, Ray would be awesome, but not for Harden. Never.

Fair enough. All good points against the deal.

1. Ray on a team where he can just play his game and everyone else take care of the athletic defense and rebounding is still great.

2. Cmon, Harden already a great scorer? hes good for sure, but great is overrating a good young player.

3. Ray is that clutch guy that would be great to have when Durant gets doubled.

No one questions how good Ray Allen would be for this team in short term. But he is not much better than Harden is now, and it's not worth trading one young star for 1 or 2 years of Ray Allen.

I hope Thunder manage a way to sign both Garnett and Allen when they become FA. Both would do amazing things for the Thunder.

Harden is a better all around player than Allen is right now. Over the next 10+ years this comparison is laughable.

Absolutely no reason to give up Harden for Allen. Harden is better now and will be for the rest of time.

Although both Allen and Bass would be nice fits for Thunder, Harden is too high price. He's actually the second best player in this team and a leader of the second unit. Doing this trade Thunder would lose scoring off the bench. You also overrate Westbrook as a passer; i can't see him creating open looks for Allen.

Harden is scoring more than Allen on better efficiency, and brings more to the table as a playmaker, and is something like 15 years younger.

Why would we do this?

LOL.

do you sell things for your day job ?

If okc trades harden, they are no longer close to a title. And ray allen a clutch 3 pt shooter? All i remember is him missing 3 after 3 after 3 in the playofs in the past couple of years.
