Come playoffs i think those minutes at C will belong to Perkins/Ibaka/Collsion anyway.

Re: Thunder Sign Daniel Orton
Orton might get a D league assignment.
I don't expect Aldrich or Thabeet to see "ANY" meaningful minutes. And at 2.5mil Aldrich is not too expensive to sit at the end of an NBA bench. There are plenty of worse contracts out there for guys who do less.

Re: Thunder Sign Daniel Orton
Minutes at Center should be 24/24 for Perkins/Collison. Maybe both should rest at regular season for like 20/18, and 10 mpg for Aldrich(looked good). Perkins imo is useless most of the regular season. Minutes at PF position should be 28/10/10 for Ibaka/Durant/Perry

Why? Thabeet has failed to get minutes with three separate teams, two of whom were fairly desperate for a center presence.
What seems shiny and new to us, is still just Thabeet.

So after multiple threads warning everyone this team is incapable of supporting the talent on the roster financially you've reversed yourself and think that $2.5M - $4.2M is acceptable for a third string center at the end of the bench? They had that with Nazr and chose not resign him despite the fact that Brooks played him once in a while.
What the team can afford is roughly $800,000 for the third string center, Thabeet was willing to sign for that amount and now has an opportunity.

Brooks is never going to play PJ3 10mpg over an 82 game schedule. Such little minutes do nothing for the team nor the development of the player.
The regular season should be used to develop a player beyond Perkins and Collison, especially if neither plays better than last season. Why have so many prospects if the status quo is acceptable?

Re: Thunder Sign Daniel Orton
Daniel Orton and Hasheem Thabeet are non-entities as far as I'm concerned at this point, and Perry Jones is almost there also. Aldrich was a lotto pick and hasn't cracked the rotation, Jackson was a similar pick to Jones and was replaced midseason with Derek Fisher, even Harden and Ibaka did fall into big roles right away. Jones isn't going to be getting minutes early in the year unless there are injuries, probably will take a year or more for him to get consistent burn.
Orton is just camp fodder IMO. Thabeet has way more potential than him...

Nick and Serge will spend more time at C this season, Durant more at PF. Durant increased PF minutes significantly all season and into the playoffs. That is the direction things are headed.

Jones is way more hyped than Jackson, and I believe seriously that Scott Brooks's lineups are heavily influenced by reputation and big names.

Brooks felt compelled to insert Derek Fisher into those lineups with Durant at PF. Now that the "veteran presence" is no longer on the team who steps into the role?

Tecture you're a little annoying. First off Ibaka's contract won't be in effect until next year. So this coming year the Thunder still have flexibility with the cap to a degree. It is going to be really interesting to see what ends up happening with Harden. But the rubber truely doesn't really hit the road until Ibaka and possibly Harden's contract kicks in. This coming year 2.4mil for Cole is affordable plus it's part of his rookie contract. Even if you cut him it's still on the cap. And 2.4mil isn't worth the use of the Amnesty clause. I think from what we have seen thus far it's highly unlikely Cole get's optioned by the team. And for Thabeet, I doubt he is here for long either. Nazr was long in the tooth, he served his purpose.
It's really kind of tough having a conversation with you Tecture because you lack common sense.

Re: Thunder Sign Daniel Orton
After this move by Presti, I can see Ibaka's value in a trade sky rocketed. He's locked up for long term on a fair deal, better than almost every team in the league could manage to get on a free agency. Ibaka's ceiling is amazingly high, he's only 23 with all the pieces we know.
We should pay what Harden wants, wait to the deadline, and keep what our FO think is more valuable for assets and replacement. I really think Serge is valuable, but expendable, since Durant's has a range of development and final position in the NBA is uncertain. Durant could cover Ibaka's position playing full time 4 for long term.
Should retain Harden and trade Ibaka for assets and replacement.

So the biggest announcement at the slowest basketball news cycle time of year is Any Rautins accepting an invitation to training camp. If Rautins want to play in the NBA why go to training camp with a team with no roster spots available? As a Canadian I would think Europe or China would bring more opportunity to keep playing basketball and make a living wage.
I wonder if Rautins has interest in the Thunder beyond playing? There do seem to be some scouting and coaching positions open within the organization.
