Al Horford?

Post#1 » by ThunderAndy » Thu Jan 10, 2013 9:04 am

Al Horfords contract which is 12 million will keep the luxury tax manageable for the thunder. And it ends in a couple years. He's a consistent workhorse, keeps a low profile, and can mesh well with the personalities on board.

What can he be had for and what is your guys opinions on this?

I don't know what kind of value Atlanta gives Al Horford for, but I'd say a rebuilding package with Toronto pick plus Jeremy Lamb would get it done, but I'd try to keep Jeremy Lamb, I think he can be a player in this league.

Perkins
Maynor
PJ III
Toronto 1st

That's what I'd offer for Al Horford.

Personally I think this is the best deal we can get. Very realistic trade to me....

this would be decent value for Horford if the Hawks were in a total rebuild mode. but we are not. we are just playing this season out trying to win as many games as we can to attract two of the top free agents this summer, i.e. Dwight and CP3 or Al Jefferson and Tyreke Evans or Monta Ellis or maybe even Jose Calderon. if we can not get two of them and keep Josh Smith then I believe the Hawks would do a trade something like this.
December of 2019 “Trae Young Involved in 'Emotional' Locker Room Scene After Hawks Loss. Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is unsurprisingly getting tired of the team's struggles.”

I don't think that we give Al and Take back Perkins, I just don't think that this gets it done especially for Al who is one of our players that's harder to get, also we'd trade Smith long before Al at this point

I once wanted Smith on the Thunder but nah, no longer. That was a couple years ago when we still had Green and he was up for resigning or whatever. So Al is the only one i would be interested in seeing on this team and it would actually be nice to see him as a PF and Ibaka as a full time center.

If ATL was smart they would do a complete rebuild and cash in on both.
We all know they are not going to be contenders over the next few years so why waste these talented guys? Why not simply cash in on them and do an actual rebuild.

I would still trade Horford before I traded Smith

I don't think a complete rebuild is what we should do, especially considering the fact that we might not even find that difference maker in the Draft if we do, not everyone benefits from a rebuild like OKC when they got Durant, Westbrook, and Harden. We have alot of Cap Space to sign a difference maker this year, or if not this year then we can go the Dallas route and sign a bunch of guys to 1 year deals and cash in on that amazing 2014 FA class.
