How do you look at this back to back?

Post#1 » by Podirk » Fri Nov 15, 2013 12:25 pm

I'm admirably an optimist and don't get too caught up in game by game ups and downs...

So I'm satisfied. Two road losses though..how?

I think Adams obviously has more positives then perk. That said the rotations are off. Adams helps the bench so much more cause they need him. It's been nice to see how he works with the starting unit but he makes that second five so much better.

Great playoff like experience In Back to backs in Nov. for a young evolving team...

Great comebacks late...

Westbrook shaking off some more rust

Ibaka showing more of who the Thunder need him to be.

First game was kind of bull. Hard to when a game when both your starting bigs are out the second half. Brooks panicked and went with Gomes and Fisher for some reason, there really wasn't much optimism from me at that point.

2nd game, lost on a last second shot to a team that shot lights out from 3 all game. Not too worried about that either. Durant did not stay composed at all in the second half and probably should have been ejected with all his issues with the refs.

Adams needs to be with the second unit until he can play better team defense. Too many good point guards in the West to not be able to play pick&roll defense and start. Really want to see more of PJ3. He looks like a potential 3 and d player. Lamb and Jackson are showing some promise off the bench.

Yeah, I was really hoping for 1 win, but the first was BS with Ibaka getting tossed at half, that changed the game completely IMO w/o any real backup bigs, team was stuck with Gomes/Thabeet out there.
GSW game was really just a great game to watch, but they're tough at home. I agree Adams should still be w/ backups, that's something learned by this for sure. As well, now I feel more like the team is one piece away, I'd love to see a move for a legitimate big man (Asik?). I don't expect any, but it would be a dream scenario for me. Put it this way, as an OKC fan after 2 losses on this back to back, I feel better than I prob would as a Houston fan after a tight win against the Knicks.

Asik LOL. HE makes 15 million next season. The Thunder would not even pay Harden that much.

His cap hold is only 8.3, so it doesn't count as 15 against the salary cap. Still it wouldn't happen, but he'd be a good fit.

The things we've learned...or should have.

Perk actually has a purpose...for now.

Adams is best with the bench. He plays better and the bench plays better. the Jackson, Lamb, Jones, Collison, Adams 6-10 is fun to watch.

Growing pains are going to happen...but so far Brooks has stayed away from a strict rotation.

Jones needs more min. (and I think 3 and D may be selling him a bit short..but I've been a Jones apologist for a year+ now).

A trade is going to be hard to find..the players we want to trade are not players that other teams, outside of tanking ones, would want. And of those few teams what players would fit on the court and in the pocket book??

nothing much to take away. not that we were terribly exposed in either game.
We do need another big man though.

Yeah, thats the issue w/ trades at this point. The only assets I see available that are useful would be:
A draft pick (have the extra Dallas pick, so giving 1 first should still be ok IMO)
For me one of Jackson or Lamb, but not both
I think Thabo could be dealt to a team given the immergence of the young guys and reading rumors he may not be thrilled losing minutes

But that's about it. Perk could be a useful backup for a good team, but is expensive as such. We'll see, one can dream!

Edit: One more thing I learned and realized after devilanche's post: Thabeet is not an NBA center at this point. There was honestly a point in the LAC game where I looked at the TV and thought "Is he trying to get cut?"
