Durant really struggling with his shot this year

Post#1 » by MvPderozan » Sat Nov 30, 2013 5:30 pm

I know its still early, but KD never really gets off to a start like this. He is shooting under 45% for the year. And what concerns me is he is missing some really easy/good looks out there. Can the added weight be a contributor to this? He is still the leading scorer in the league because he gets to the line alot with the rip through and all the other stuff he does. But i am pretty concerned with his shot

Its been 14 games. No reason to panic yet. He's not gonna go for another 50/40/90 season this year, which is ok.

Honestly, I think he (and we) got a little too caught up in it last year. I'd prefer seeing him play a little more loose. Didn't he start lays year pretty slow too, anyway?

I haven't seen him shoot this bad in two or three years. I never thought about the added weight affecting his jumper, but it's possible. It certainly appears broke right now. Even his form looks a little off.

That's a really good point, I was wondering that the other day actually. I didn't know since he's a pro and such a great shooter, but the weight could certainly change his shot. Its of course different but I can remember when I was in high school and first started lifting weights how off my shot felt, I guess it can happen to anyone if that's really what it is. He's certinly off.

Still early. Last year he had the olympics leading up to the season so basically was already in midseason form at the start of training camp.

The first 10 or so games I think he was around 47% and 35% from 3. It wasn't as bad as this year but he still started slow, plus had all the turnovers.

Welp Durant returns to form tonight. 14-21, 3-4 from 3, 32 points.

Also a ridiculous 32-10-12-4-4 stat line.

KD is gunning for that MVP award. However there is a 6'8, 250 pound man, blocking his way.... :-?

Plus I wonder if he can win mvp/scoring awards at the same time.

I didn't want to start a thread for this but it's similar to the subject anyway. But what's with Westbrook's free throws this year? He's one of my top 5 favourite players but as an owner of him in fantasy, I had to ask this since he's always shooting around 80 or so % on his career. Now it's at 70% on the year and hasn't been really trending up at all.

Its not just his FT shooting, its just his shot in general. He's still trying to get his stroke back, I'm sure he will by the 2nd half of the season.

Still gaining leg strength and stamina which are the 2 biggest factors in shooting consistency too.

31/9/5 on 53/46/86 this month. I'd say he's found his stroke.

He keeps this kind of production up all year for the thunder and he wins mvp
