Welcome Billy Donovan

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 7:52 pm

Well, Presti got his guy. I was skeptical, but I offer some thoughts (and a poll for everyone's)...

I hate the idea of a retread. This isn't a retread.

Realistically, the only candidate I think was as interesting was Messina (maybe Obradovich or Adams), as Gentry was coach before and it didn't work out.

Donovan's got some ex staff in OKC already, likely some familiarity, is known by Presti, and will use analytics and some sort of decent offense apparently. I'm intrigued and optimistic.

KD seems to have reached out to ex UF players and is happy, so I'm happy.

Time for a poll, and here's to the best season in Thunder history.

I think everyone knows my vote.

I'll clarify that it is independent of Donovan's coaching abilities. I don't think he's a huge step down, and I think he'll be a good coach. I think the way Presti went about it and the Reasons he gave are BS though.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Billy Donovan's five-year deal with Oklahoma City is worth approximately $30 million, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

WOW BIG contract. But, I guess with big risk there is big reward. I think he can do it.

My biggest worry is the end of game strategy which seems to be on the same level as Brooks...
