Thunder 21-1 when Waiters scores 10 or more

Post#1 » by kraytinprime » Fri Feb 12, 2016 6:32 pm

Thunder are 21-1 when Waiters scores 10 or more points and KD plays.

The only loss was at Miami. Game was tied with 8 seconds left when KD launched a 3 pointer with the game tied.

This is just shows how important it is for the Thunder to have that 3rd scorer and take some of the load off of KD/Russ.

And this shows why Waiters needs to go.

Probably. If we can get a wing who can consistently score 10+ PPG and play decent defense we will be right there with the big boys.

Exactly. We're 54 games into the season. This is how often players other than Durant and Westbrook have scored 15 points or more:

Adams 2x
Ibaka 18x
Kanter 15x
Morrow 2x
Payne 1x
Roberson 1x
Waiters 12x

We just don't have that guy that constantly puts up 3rd option numbers. We make up for that most times by 'teamplay', but it would certainly go a long way having a player out there that you can rely on to contribute offensively. Kevin Martin did it in 44 out of 77 games in 2012-2013. Reggie Jackson did it in 27x (80 games played) in 2013-2014. Harden did it 41x in 2011-2012 (62 games played).

Kanter could be the guy but his weak defense does not allow him to consistently play 25+ minutes a game.

In the games Kanter plays 25+ minutes a game he is averaging 16 points per game.

Donovan needs to figure out how to get Kanter more minutes and hide him on defense some how.

So sad Ibaka only has 18 games with 15 or more points. It a shame that Presti choose Ibaka instead of Harden in 2012.
