If you listened to that last Locked on Thunder pod he did with Katz (at about the 30 minute mark) he comes about as close as I've ever heard a Thunder player other than maybe Lamb in publicly complaining about the lack of playing time/role. Don't think Presti will appreciate that.

That was incredibly benign. He basically just said being a d leaguer isn't what he dreamed of.

I figured there wasn't much substance to this. Huestis is an extremely high character guy and Presti would be an idiot to look at this and think, "We need to move on from him."

He more or less said he had to stop thinking about it to keep from being bitter (least that was the way I heard it). "I didn't want to be upset anymore, it takes a lot out of me to be frustrated by something that's completely out of my control."

So he's talking publicly about how frustrated he is with his situation. That's not something you hear out of Thunder players much if ever (especially from the 15th man on the roster). But if you hear benign I'm not going to argue with you about it. Just made me wonder about how they like his attitude.

Undestandably so. He's been with us for 2 years now and has played a total of 86 minutes. We've gone through like 20-30 different bench players and he's basically the only one that never got a real chance.

And here's the thing, we've been told all along what a great kid he is, how smart he is, etc. I don't doubt any of those things, but this situation would wear on any reasonable person. And if he's willing to say what he did in a public forum like a local beat writer's podcast, one would assume he's saying a whole heck of a lot more in private. That's typically the way it works with public figures. So how does the organization feel about that?

I bet they can't wait to get rid of him. Presti did him dirty with that contract and now him not getting a fair chance to prove himself in the league. I completely understand his frustration. This is nothing like Reggie Jackson. I bet all he wants is to just get a fair chance like everybody else has gotten but him.

It's got to be a weird situation to be in. On the one hand he's making guaranteed money as a first round pick which has to be nice. On the other hand, years are going by at this point with his career in a holding pattern. He's seen Singler. He's seen Semaj. He knows this isn't exactly a team full of all stars. And yet, no real chance to prove himself.

I'm not going to feel too bad for him, he was mocked 47th by dx and undrafted by both nbadraft.net and bleacher report. Realistically, if we didn't take him he wasn't ever going to be an NBA player. He likely would've made less money in his lifetime than he's already made in his career, and wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to play against NBA caliber guys on consistent basis. We invested heavily in him and only because of that there's still a slim chance he has a long NBA career. I hope he gets a chance, because mcbuckets/grant/Singler certainly aren't good enough to have the position locked down.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
