I'm a little early, but I've got a busy day tomorrow and want to make sure this gets done. Enjoy!

1- Will Alex Abrines improve defensively?
2- Can Alex become OKC's starting shooting guard?
3- How concerned are you about his knee and receiving PLP injections along with a busy offseason?
4- Do you think there is any chance Alex gets traded this season?

Re: Player of the Day: Alex Abrines
With an estimated RPM of about -2.2, Abrines rated as one of worst overall impacts for SGs... but a bit better than a typical rookie. The weakness is defense of course but his ORPM was barely positive. One skill. 26th best on ORPM for SGs. If he advances to plus 1, he moves to 19th place. Plus 2 would make him 10th best on that. But would have to improve on D to become a net positive overall. Plus 1 on offense, -1 to -1.5 on D might be likely or best case. I dunno. Improving by 1 pt total is pretty good progress. 2 or more pts would be more than normal.
Any chance traded? Yes, but under 20%.
At 24 he isn't really a youngster anymore, relatively speaking. He should be fairly close to what he is going to be, peak. As in, peaking season after next or close, by historical averages.

1- Yes.
2- Assuming PG leaves an Abrines/Roberson starting wing combo seems probable for '18-'19.
3- Probably not as concerned as I should be.
4- Yes. Higher than I think it should be. I can see Presti giving up on Abrines early for an overrated veteran that is not an upgrade, i.e. Avery Bradley.

Re: Player of the Day: Alex Abrines
It would make much more sense to start Abrines at shooting guard and work with him defensively since he's capable of averaging around 12-14 points if given the 32 minutes Roberson is getting. That way other teams would always have to account for him (unlike the pathetic Roberson) and it would greatly improve the spacing of the offense and eliminates the extra defender clogging everything up since Roberson doesn't even need to be guarded. Abrines has a chance to be a really solid starting 2 and with an entire season of development defensively he could be really solid going into the postseason. Give Roberson the remaining 12-14 minutes and maybe Ferguson some in there as well.

I really hope billy is more consistent with his minutes this year.

Re: Player of the Day: Alex Abrines
Apparently Alex has missed his last three games due to injury. I have concerns about him being an injury prone player. He's so small and frail.

"Small and frail" used to be true, but IDK if it is any more.

He just hurt his knee in Eurobasket. It is being called "minor". He might not be ready at the start of camp.
