This is the happiest I've been basketball wise since 2012. In Russ we trust.

Congrats to you guys! The Wesbrook extension is huge for your franchise. Now go get Griffin.

What is the point? The morons who post such nonsense would just ignore it.

Anyway, good for Russ. Now I can't wait to see him wrecking the league next season.

This is just a 1 year extension kinda like durant was expected to sign. He will opt out of the player option. He gets a lot more money this year and next by signing this extension.

Let's wait and see what he does after next year before we start building statues. He could leave after 2 years just like someone else did and then where is the Thunder? There is also a chance the team crashes hard, as unlikely as that is it is still possible, with the turnover and everything gets blown up next off-season. If Russ had signed a 3 year extension instead of just adding a 1+1 I'd be much more inclined to talk about a statue at this point.

You have Russell Westbrook for at a minimum 2 more years and got some pretty solid indicators as to his receptiveness to stay in OKC longterm.

Given how grave things looked right after Durant left, I'd think this "one season extension" would be a pretty big positive given there were originally indicators that he had no interest in signing such an extension.

Good luck to you guys this year Snake, you're set up for a solid season and future.

Its no secret now who's the favorite player on the Thunder by the fans. Does westbrook staying, help them bring in better players and get back to a top 2 seed in the West eventually?

I don't really see how this extension gives any indication of his long term plans. It's just a lot more money upfront for him. Still creates a nice clean break in 2 years or makes him a more viable trade candidate midseason if that's what prestI decides to do.

Okc still has good parts but they can't put much shooting on the floor right now. Crazy to have gone from from ibaka, durant, and harden who were all elite shooters for their position to poor shooting at pretty much every position now. They will need to run to generate a lot of offense unless they plan on playing kanter with adams a lot.

I'm kinda surprised durant didn't do the 1+1 though. Could they have give durant this same deal last year?

Gotta love Westbrook. I'd want 12 players just like him. Now I'm just thinking about how great it would be to watch an all Westbrook starting 5.
