Presti needs to start getting some blame for this. Terrible coach hired by him and then the roster is full of a bunch of pieces that don't compliment one another very well.

carmelo is not a star player anymore. those two should not be yielding to him like he has some sort of clutch super power. clutch is a basketball fantasy that we should not be subscribing to.

really sad.

Variance is a thing. But there's a reason certain teams tend to overperform pythag every year on clutch games and certain teams tend to underperform. You're overstating it.

where is this data? there are teams that outperform their season pythag regularly or underperform regularly and oddly these trends sometimes continue thru roster turnover (minnesota, memphis)

i think that, narrowly, the idea that carmelo is a higher percentage scorer in 'the clutch' should influence late game shot selection is a poor philosophy.

I honestly don't remember. I've seen it before, though— the big one is that Memphis is better than expected in the clutch every year and the Wolves are worse.

Bulls fan here but I like the Thunder also. I think the Thunder would be better with either Melo or George but not both. Their games just don't fit. All Westbrook needed was a second scoring option preferably one that can play well off the ball. Melo looks like odd man out since he holds the ball and just iso, also he's not gonna be effective playing the 4 on most nights which will offset his rebounding ability and we know he's gonna struggle defensively. Melo is a small foward who can occasionly play the 4.
