Russ at SG would be a HUGE improvement to the team and drastically alter the roster composition in a positive way. However, Russ is going to become D-Wade at this point. Wade and Russ basically are the same player and I'm referring to Wade's skill set and in his prime not where they both are today. Both were never good 3pt shooters, great ball handlers, had great court vision and were athletically gifted. If Russ were to move to SG AND commit to defense, like Wade did, while still being the focus of the offense, but letting Schroder bring the ball up and initiate the offense OKC could drastically improve their ceiling.

Unfortunately, Russ won't do that and Donovan probably isn't smart enough to think of it much less implement it and enforce it. Oh, the greatness OKC could achieve with a competent coach is almost limitless. Unfortunately, Presti keeps ignoring the short window and Donovan would be the worst coach in a YMCA youth league so OKC remains capped as a first round playoff exit.

Couldn't agree more and moving Russ to his natural position as a 2 would eliminate many of the silly turnovers he makes and some of the ridiculous shots he takes throughout a game which has been a bugaboo in his career. It would also help conserve his energy for the 4th qtr. in games and help him to play better defense since he wouldn't be carrying such a huge offensive load. We just have to hope this team can overcome the coaching limitations Donovan has. I just hope at some point he gets the best players on the court at the appropriate times and his substitutions patterns make some sort of logical sense. At least he might be able to get those two things right.

We're going to cut down on bad shots and silly turnovers by moving Russ off the ball and having schroder handle it? I've got some bad news for you guys.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
