lol @ grant and PG13 trolling the medias.

Don't recall OKC squad being so friendly. They all like each other. I think it could have an huge impact on our young players development

This was a great win. There reaches a point where we need to accept that russ’ shot (however bad it was) may not be coming back. Unless it’s a shot at the rim, I think russ needs to defer.

PG is on another level.
I wasn't sure how well Jerami would be able to contain Giannis but he did one hell of a job. He was unbelievable.

It's bizarre see this team go from being one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the league to one of the best over this recent stretch. Also bizarre that Russ seems to be shooting better from 3 than from midrange right now.

They gameplanned the **** out of this game. Excellent preparation all around. Close to nothing came easy for the Bucks. They were forced to make some bs shots with a hand in their faces.

Brilliant game, from planning, to execution, to PG13 (so good that he deserves his own section in this lazy breakdown).

bucks fan here, congratz

PG13 is playing at the level most ppl expected he'd reach b4 the injury. Adams is a solid center. No way would i want giannis to bang down low with that much size and strength. Hope he makes the allstar team.

Come playoffs, hopefully it's pg13 taking the crucial shots and not westbrook. I'm thinking he is starting to come around but again you can never know with russ.

Got to go to the game tonight. George is just on a different tier right now. I had season tickets back during the KD/Russ team's glory days from 2011 until he left. What George is doing right now, just as a spectator to be there, it feels the same as when Durant was at his best. Like when you shoots you feel the entire place inhale waiting to cheer in anticipation that it's going in. Every. time. Awesome stuff.

Bucks nation was present at that game tonight. I saw a lot of Bucks fans. And not just Giannis bandwagon fans either. I saw a woman with a "Bucks in 6" shirt on. I was like, respect, that's a real fan right there.

yes.

I’m starting to think we should look at russ more like rondo. We need him to do everything but score unless it’s a shot at the basket. It’s not the best version of Russ but it might be the best version of this roster. He just has to buy in and quit shooting so many jumpers.

I don't believe that will ever happen. I think Russ will be defiant until the end. Even if he were still playing in his late 30s I can't see him doing what Wade and Dirk are doing.....stepping back and taking a minor role on the team.

You mean the guy that's the best passer, defender and rebounder at his position while putting up 20/10/10 a night? Seems like a good deal.

You haven't watched any OKC games this season have you?

1st in steals per game in NBA
5th highest defensive rating (#1 at his position)
5th highest defensive win-shares (#1 at his position)
4th highest defensive BPM (#1 at his position)
4th in deflections (#1 at his position)
#1 in offensive loose balls recovered

What other defensive metrics do you have? Or you just going to post some cherry picked Youtube clips of him getting beat in 2015?

individual drtg and defensive win shares are the same thing. the defensive win shares are derived from drtg. drtg is a long since deprecated dean oliver metric that's basically a joke now. there's no play by play component so westbrook is getting 'credit' for defensive plays that occur with or without him on the court. the same thing is true for dbpm. dbpm, in its form on bbr anyway, is broken by westbrook's defensive rebounding. bpm creator daniel myers says the following:

What does this mean? Box Plus/Minus is good at measuring offense and solid overall, but the defensive numbers in particular should not be considered definitive. Look at the defensive values as a guide, but don't hesitate to discount them when a player is well known as a good or bad defender.

the fact of the matter is that our defense is designed to get westbrook into favorable positions because he's only trying to get steals and rebounds. he doesn't contest shots and he can't stay in front of anyone. here's the best defensive point guard in the nba playing matador defense as part of his near-meltdown last night before paul george saved him:

if you really want to trust your life to apm stats you can make a case for westbrook being among the better defensive point guards. but the best? lol. you have to close your ears and trust a metric from 2004 nobody uses.

I gave you a bunch of metrics. They paint a composite of WB as a great defender. He has an arguement for the best at his position this season. If IRRC that first video you posted was after WB spent the play fuming to an official over a foul he didn't get called. He's liable to take off plays when he loses his cool over missed calls. Pretty big mistake, but we're still talking cherry picked plays. He's not as consistent as Ferg or PG, but he's at least as disruptive. On a play by play basis I'm taking some other guys over him, but if I need to disrupt a specific possession down the stretch I'm not taking many over WB.

Regardless, maybe you think he's a top 5 defender at his position this year. Combined with his playmaking, rebounding and overall gravity on the floor it makes him tremendously valuable as it is.
