The only excuse I can give for keeping Presti at this point is if ownership is acknowledging that a complete rebuild is coming in two years when PG opts out and leaves. If they think PG is going to sign another contract then they should be replacing Presti because he clearly is not going to do anything to make this team better than a first round exit. Even getting their ideal matchup in Portland OKC is going lose in the first round because of the terrible coach that Presti has already locked in for next year.

Presti could surprise me and fire Donovan after this series, but I don't see it happening. I also don't trust Presti to hire a coach that could change anything because Russ is set in his ways and the roster construction isn't going to get fixed.

I have become a pretty huge proponent this year that the problems stem from Presti, and one of those "stems" is Donovan.

But our roster construction is so unbelievably bad. I have no idea how we began this season and Presti looked at this roster with 1.5 proven good shooters (PG and Abrines) and thought "yeah, that'll work." Then, mysterious Abrines saga happens, he's let go, and Presti looks at the roster leading up to the deadline, sees that it consists of only one good shooter, and against thinks "yeah, this'll still work."

It's sometimes an overused meme, but I've found it often very much applies to Presti:

Except we need a third panel with the dog sitting in the fire saying "We just need our guys to start making shots," and a fourth panel that re-concludes "Yes, this is fine."
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

This was the story at the end of last year. Will Horne write a new one this year or just change the names and dates?
