You think Ferguson and Diallo for a career 32% 3pt shooter that is due a decent raise this off-season would be enough? Phoenix obviously views his value as the same as more than Ariza so whatever you think you would give for Ariza add more to it. As a generally rule, I need a wing to be a better shooter than Russ before I consider calling them "2-way". I also want them to have posted a positive DBPM at some point in their career to call them "2-way". By those terms Oubre is a 0 way player. We all have different standards for quality.

The funny part is that if Oubre had played the same career he had in Washington in OKC people here would be calling for him to be at the end of the bench. He would be getting Kyle Singler and PJ3 comparisons. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

No. Getting Schroder and the TPE was better than stretching Melo. However, understand that means that there was no better offer for Schroder than the option to buy-out Melo! What player, that is equal to Melo, do you want OKC to trade Schroder for? If you can't name one then stop with the trade Schroder garbage. If Schroder is moved it would be in a salary dump in an attempt to cut the luxury tax.

I thought stretching Melo was the best option at the time. I didn't expect ownership to be willing to eat this much in luxury tax. The team income must be higher than I thought.

It doesn’t mean there wasn’t better value for Schroder out there, necessarily. It just means that Hawks F.O. decided two things: They didn’t want to deal with Schroder long-term AND they decided the best way to move on was to clear money and tank a little harder.

I’m sure there were other offers, but nothing that made sense for Atlanta long-term. That doesn’t mean Schroder isn’t valuable. They just weren’t in a position where they wanted to take on long-term money. They also were able to get a lottery-protected first in 2022 (which is when Westbrook will be 34) for Schroder + OKC tax relief.

I should end this by saying that I just think Atlanta decided this was the best option for their long-term future for their franchise. It’s not necessarily indicative of Schroder’s objective value.

It just really depends on how you view the Washington situation and Oubre’s situation. Context is everything in the NBA, in my opinion.

I think Oubre was a bad fit in Washington where he was forced to be more of an ISO player where he fits better in a transition-heavy, off-ball role.

Defensively, he was asked to be a 3 where he fits in better as a 2 which is Beal’s spot. So I think Oubre’s best fit is as an off-ball 2 in a pace and space offense.

Ferg is growing on me. He has a really nice shooting form with a quick release. He's not getting enough opportunities (and not taking enough) but I think he could easily develop in to a 35-40% 3 point shooter. He's also turned in to a very good defender and will probably get better. He's super young.

So let’s move Schroder for a wing and figure out backup point guards options.

Who’s out there that isn’t Beal and somewhat obtainable

I still think that Hardaway is obtainable, is a decent fit, and isn't Schröder.

I would love trading Hardaway + one of New Yorks PGs (Burke or Mudiay) für Schröder + Abrines/Patterson.
Don't think they would take Patterson, but maybe some third team might like him.

Could even save us some money this year and New York might be interested, they could hope for rehabbing Schröders value even further if he starts for them.

Another option, which I expect to be unpopular here, would be to trade Schröder+Patterson for Jabari Parker.

If I’m Charlotte I’d rather swing for the fences with Kemba than get that return.

On trade #2 I’d love Joseph and think that Pacers could be a trade partner, but they aren’t going to want 2Pats player option next summer.

#1 for Charlotte it would have to be a situation where they know Kemba is going to walk they get Schroder Bridges Bender a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick not a bad return for them for a player that's going to walk.
#2 maybe we can Add a 2nd round pick to Charlotte take out Abrines and add Patterson. Then use Abrines it the Pacers deal for Joseph.

OKC gets Gallinari, Lou, Mbah a Moute
Bulls get Schroder, Robinson, TLC, 2nd from Clippers, 2nd from OKC
Clippers get Parker, Abrines, 2Pat

Bulls turn an expiring in Parker into Schroder and a young wing who was a lottery pick with a couple of 2nds

The Clippers now have nearly 66 million in cap space next (with Harris cap hold in place). Thats a Kawhi max contract plus almost 34 million in space. Hello KD and Kawhi to Clips with a few minor other moves, while still being able to re-sign Harris.

OKC gets an elite shooter who’s been healthy this year in Gallinari, a ridiculous 6th man who is fine finishing a game or not in Lou, and a bigger wing who can play 3/4 in MBah who is a solid defender.

Other variations of this exist where 2Pat stays in OKC, MBah stays with Clippers and Beverley comes to OKC (but could he and Russ coexist)? The only way to get Lou is to include 2Pat to make salaries work

So am I crazy?

I don't think any team is going to trade for Roberson until they see him healthy on the court. The Bulls have Dunn and LaVine to run the point and don't have a need for Schroder. The Bulls are looking to add Zion to their young core of Dunn, Lavine, Lauri and Carter Jr. They might be interested in a wing like Diallo or Ferguson, but I don't see them looking to add a PG at this point. They will be looking to move Parker and Lopez before the deadline most likely and there is a chance OKC could get involved as the 3rd team in a deal with them.

LAC isn't trading Gallinari for garbage.

I don’t think you are crazy at all. I actually came up with a very similar trade proposal about a week or so a go with us getting Lou Williams, Gallinari and Mbah a Moute for a similar package.

I wouldn’t be shocked if this is the kind of move the Clippers would be interested in as they want to clear more space for FAs with them being tied to Durant and Leonard.

We get players in return that we would probably be happy to match when their respective contracts are up. The players we don’t want can be flipped.

It wouldn’t shock me at all if the team that thinks they can land Durant would be interested in Roberson and I think that’s a bigger factor than most think when determining Roberson’s value. Being able to have one of Durant’s old buddies could be important to Durant. We just don’t know but I will say this: Everyone wants to enjoy where they work @. Having close friends in your work environment can be more important or less important depending on the individual.

First, you realize the Clippers have max space without making any trades, right? Secondly, why would they trade Gallinari, who is a very good player, before they have a 2nd max FA lined up to sign and need to move him for one of the handful of better players out there? They are not tanking this season in the hopes that they can be saved by long shot FA signings. They want to make the WCF, which isn't realistic, to try to show the potential FAs that they are close and that replacing Tobias Harris with kd, Butler, Kawahi, etc could put them over the top.

If they somehow get Kyrie and Butler interested in teaming up they could easily move Gallinari to free the needed space for a 2nd max FA while keeping Beverly's cap hold. They would likely also move SGA, who is having a solid rookie year, for a young player at a different position. If they only get a wing then they, theoretically, keep SGA and Beverly as their PGs. There is absolutely no reason for the Clippers to blow up their potential 2nd round team this year for a long shot FA.

That would be like saying OKC should move PG, Adams and Schroder because maybe they could sign Kawahi. Does that sound like a good idea? If not then why are you suggesting that a team in a similar position do something like that?

If you were going to theorize that NOLA would trade off Julius Randle, Solomon Hill and E'Twan Moore to chase one of the wing FAs this off-season to put next to AD and Jrue then I would be willing to accept that theory since they are struggling and really only have one more year to convince AD they can contend. If they were to do something like that then miss on FAs they could trade AD for a huge rebuilding package and then trade Jrue to help speed the rebuild along. It also would help their lottery odds if they traded off their assets, outside of AD and Jrue, now instead of later. They would have a slim chance to get lucky in the lottery and get an huge impact talent plus they could land the FA for a "big 3". If you put Kawhi next to AD and Jrue that team would probably be a top 4 seed in the West next year.

The clippers want two free agents and not one. Gallinari was considered a bad contract two months ago because he’s made of glass. I have a hard time believing he is now a durable player. If push comes to shove I think they move Gallinari to keep Harris if they only get one FA.

As far as my trade ideas, I’m not moving diallo or Ferguson for anyone else that isn’t young. With russ’ play this year we might be forced to do a rebuild in the next year or two. I don’t think diallo or Ferguson will be allstars but they could be nice role players on a rebuilding team. A 23-24 year old Danny Green type player would be nice to keep around.

Schroder needs to be gone. Felton is a good enough shooter that I might actually prefer him jacking threes than Dennis doing floaters.

If only it was just the shooting. In the month of December, Schröder has managed to assist his bench teammates with one (!!!) 3-pointer in 128 minutes. Noel has four 3pt-assists, Abrines two, Patterson one and Diallo one. Overall, he has created 37 points in 11 games as the backup point guard. That's not slightly more than 3 points per game. As the freaking backup point guard. Meanwhile Abrines, Diallo, Patterson and Noel have combined for 36 points created over the last 11 games. And that's with Schröder having a 38 USG% with the bench.

Insanity. Last season, Raymond "Buffet" Felton averaged half a point created via assist per minute with the bench. With his recent play, Schröder is currently on pace to way underperform last season's Felton as a "floor general".

Presti has access to all of this info yet there is something about trash iso scorers that he loves with bench units.
