OKC's Expirings:

$20,158,622...Durant
$05,138,430...Waiters
$03,750,000...Novak
$03,000,000...Augustin
===========
$32,047,052

---

Total Salary (2016)..: $69,230,714 = *after expirings*
Predicted '16-'17 cap: $89,000,000 (tax= $108,000,000)

Signings:
$22,000,000...Durant...$91,230,714

---

Remaining Cap...$16,769,286 ('tax' minus 'salary after durant signing')

---

Is that how much we will have to spend next year assuming Durant signs for 1 year/22,000,000? Or are my calculators off?

What spearsy said. Plus the trade board has a cap space series with this calculated by Smitty, he's pretty tied in and pretty sure he has sources in the field. Check the top of the trades board if you're interested!

All hail Cam Payne (it's ok to say hail in the US, right? :D) !!!

To quote Michael Cage: I'm loving it.

And to quote Joshua Radin - Brand New Day:

Some kind of magic
Happens late at night
When the moon smiles down at me
And bathes me in its light

I fell asleep beneath you
In the tall blades of grass
When I woke the world was new
I never had to ask

It's a brand new day
The sun is shining
It's a brand new day
For the first time in such a long long time
I know, I'll be ok

Most kind of stories
Save the best part for last
And most stories have a hero who finds
You make your past your past
Yeah you make your past your past

It's a brand new day
The sun is shining
It's a brand new day
For the first time in such a long long time
I know, I'll be ok

This cycle never ends
You gotta fall in order to mend

It's a brand new day
It's a brand new day
For the first time in such a long long time
I know, I'll be ok

We're gonna tell our grandkids about this day. Man, I'm excited. Just picked Cam up in my fantasy team. 8-)

I have a really good feeling that Payne is going to be better than Jackson was on our team.

We'll see.

Oh and how freaking bad is Waiters? He was the worst Thunder player by far. And this is why he needs to go - he'll never be a player that plays within the flow of the game. In his mind his game always comes first and that won't change anytime soon. I say give him the Josh Smith treatment - waive his ass.

In one minute they gave up a 9-0 run that cut the lead to 8, then Russ went out and the Bucks would edge closer but not quite get over the hump. The bench ended up holding off their third quarter rally then extending in the 4th. KD was a big reason they got back in it for sure, even in the highlights you can tell he is barely engaged.
Yeah, I meant to note that it wasn't all on the bench, and I just forgot Adams actually played longer into the 3rd quarter than I thought; but I was typing all that on my phone and it's a pain in the butt to go back up and try and find the exact right spot to make edits. The bench actually, for the most part, did a pretty deccent job of keeping the Bucks at bay. The starters let the lead go from 17 to 9 and I believe the bench eventually let it get as close as two before going on their fourth quarter run to regain control of the game.

spearsy23 wrote:man, I know exactly how you feel. I'd never been to anything larger than an NAIA basketball game until my then fiancée (now wife) got us tickets for Christmas one year. I was always a HUGE D-Wade fan and got to watch the Heat lose to the Nenad Kristic lead team, since experiencing that energy I haven't even been able to actually root for any other team, I just root against the one I like less  we've been to 5 games now and had seats throughout the building (well, besides the super expensive ones) and I've never felt like it was a bad seat. The 10 dollar 300 level tickets are almost as good as the lower level ones. I live over 5 hours away and haven't been able to go any of the last three years including this one, if you don't live very far away I wouldn't even hesitate to recommend sitting in loud city on the cheap. That's assuming tickets haven't went up too much that is.

Also, Toby Keith's bar and grill in bricktown has some nice ribs!

Yeah, my parents both were teachers so they always had summers off, two weeks off for Christmas break, and one week off for spring break and we always went on some sort of vacation in the summer centered on going to an MLB game. That eventually evolved into going to a couple of NBA games during Christmas break or spring break. We went to a Grizzlies game their first or second year in Memphis (it was Pau's rookie season) and got to see them play the Spurs. Since the Grizzlies were new in town and sucked, we were able to get lower section seats right by the visiting team's tunnel. I was 14 and was in awe of the players when they came out. Then a year or two later we went and saw the Mavs and Suns in Dallas. The Suns still kinda sucked butt he Mavs had Dirk, Nash, and Finley and that was a lot of fun, too. But the atmosphere of those two games didn't match my first Thunder game six years ago. Last night there were some scattered empty seats which isn't a surprise given the recent weather in the area and it being a "dog days" game against a 12-20 Bucks team, but the atmosphere was still great. I sat in Loud City the first two Thunder games I went to in 2009-2010 and it was a lot of fun. If we want to keep coming back pretty regularly, we may have to sit up there which isn't a bad thing, but I'm afraid those club level seats last night may have spoiled us. They were awesome. We live in Fort Smith, Arkansas, which is less than a three hour drive to OKC. It's all interstate so it's a very easy, quick drive.

We talked about Toby Keith's but we had to hit up Tapwerks this time. I got to try a few beers before game and had their bratwurst which was really good. We made a deal that if the Thunder won we'd stop back at Tapwerks on our walk back to the hotel, so I was able to get one last beer and we had an appetizer. I really wanted to try Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse, but we looked up their prices online before we came and they were pretty outrageous.

He was horrifyingly bad this game. Seemed like he was playing better at the start of the season, but he's gone back to his old ways. Ship him out.

Pillendreher wrote:Yeah, this I absolutely don't get. If he can play D-League games, he's physically ready for the NBA. You don't waste such an energy player if your bench lacks exactly that.

Mitch is a pretty emotional player and injuries have derailed his development at both the college and NBA level, what? Four times now, wow. He really worked hard to get into top shape during the off-season and the injury early this season may have really gotten to him. He let himself get out of shape again and it worried me when I heard he wasn't starting for the Blue and struggling. I was afraid he was giving up from frustration but it looks like he is fighting his way back now.

After listening to Donovan's comments about Payne last night I get a sense that Papa Donovan is guarding his fledglings carefully. He wants McGary to get a chance to build back his confidence, get in shape, and see some PT with his old assistant at Florida vs sitting until garbage time on the Thunder bench.

Soonerule wrote:here is a reply I made about Kanter starting over at WTLC:

Kanter isn’t ready to start….. yet. He is getting better and it started with basic footwork, but he still has work to do and he definitely needs Collison to get him going. Once he catches on to the other team’s rhythm he doesn’t do too bad, then Ibaka can join him and he is fine … but Ibaka was not the guy that was in charge of communication throughout his career. He played with Perk and was the one being told what to do. All he had to do was understand what he was being told, nod his head and do it.

Now Perk is gone and Serge is supposed to be telling Kanter what to do but…… it’s a recipe for disaster.

this is priceless

Gallo caught Serge right after the game while he was still jacked up….. I have listened to this a hundred times…. what in the heck does Serge say at the 16 second spot?

It cracks me up every time I hear it… start at 13 seconds, something about "we started a little slow (only had to listen a couple of time to quote that) …..then we pickin it up in a second half ( I think the next word is "half" but he only said about half of "half") and the next word is anyone’s guess, maybe his brother playing at UCO could tell us but I guarantee you Enes Kanter can’t tell you what it was. I promise it isn’t in any English to Turkish dictionary or on any episode of Sponge Bob (Kanter watched Sponge Bob to help him with slang… to each his own).

That explains that "what the heck did he say?" lost look Kanter has when he takes the floor for the first time and it is Serge giving instructions instead of Collison. Enes comes in the game, goes to Serge, Serge is in game mode and jacked up, there is limited time to give instuctions and zero time to ask questions and Serge will come out with a "then we pickin’ it up in a second ha- COULPGH"….. sorry, that is the best I can do phonetically, and Serge says it with finality like Gallo and the rest of us should know exactly what he is saying. That is when I start laughing. I mean…. Poor Kanter! Was it French, Spanish or his native tongue Lingala? I don’t know but it sho’ ain’t English!

could anyone here translate the work "COULPGH" for me please.

Nobody wanted to take on the "COULPGH" challenge? ......I don't blame you. Maybe someone could forward this to Serge's brother and see if he could help us out. lol

Also, 10 minutes of footage of Today's practice.

Kind of fun seeing Novak school everyone.

I really want to see Huestis get a chance with KD and Russ, should be told to strictly shoot 3s and cut.

Presti should make a move soon. Let the new guys (I'm hoping for Lee, Allen, Martin, Tucker or Johnson) and Payne get comfortbale with some easy games. Perfect time to grow as a group.

Nah. Courtney, Tony, Kevin, PJ and Joe. It should be possible to get at least one of them without giving up anything significant. All of those teams suck and are not going anywhere (SRS Rating: 20. Suns; 21. Grizzlies; 24. T'Wolves; 27. Nets). And it's not like we're talking about corncerstone type guys here. Allen, Martin, Tucker and Johnson are all at least 30 years old and they won't play an important role in the future of their franchises.

Courtney yes, PJ yes. The others I don't think are worth it (especially not Joe Johnson, since we have no way to match his abhorrent salary).

See my edit above. And I've forgot to mention that I'd consider Johnson and Martin only with a buy out, since I don't want to pay them that much money.

Agree with Jon Hamm from the DT Mailbag today that JJ is probably washed up at this point. He's been real bad this year.

On a side note, I think I might be starting to identify people's usernames on other sites by the things they bring up in their posts

Don't think martin will buy out (and don't want him anyway). Joe Johnson could...he said that he already won enough money and that he's playing to win a ring. I think we are the team (that has chances of winning) that can offer the more playing time for him.
And definitely agree with the other names. Lee would be my first choice!

I don't know about Johnson. His stats look really bad, but that may be due to him playing in Brookyn. I don't know. I just thought he might be a nice addition because he's normally an efficient scorer that can bring the ball.
