“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Was so great to watch a game with Reggie Jackson on the opposing team and not think anything of it. Seems like that petty b.s. is basically over.

Can Grant keep it up? Its getting to where if he's open in the corner I almost expect it to go in.

Gotta love that little edge Schroder has on Westbrook at the beginning of the RPM chart.

Also, I’m not sold on Presti standing pat at the deadline. Idk. It just doesn’t feel right. Presti could feel that this is the year to take down GSW even without Roberson. He might just have his version of an all-in ace up his sleeve. Or he might make a small but significant tweak.
Or he could play it safe and make sure we have flexibility for next year. Who knows?
I can envision a scenario where Patterson and Ferguson is moved to bring back a Snell + something or something along those lines.

he came into the year shooting 30.1% career on 568 attempts. 33.2% since joining okc on 226 attempts. jumping from that to 37% would unusual. he's not even shooting particularly well from the corners this year, only 34.4%. he's been much better above the break. again, unusual.
there's a good bit of evidence to suggest that this is just a hot streak he's in the midst of.

You just can’t get this close to the warriors and walk away from tony snell if he’s there to be had at the expense of a rookie contract.

I’m not a huge fan of paying Tony Snell. He’s good, but is he that much better where you pay him nearly 24 million after this season, all the while removing a backup PF from the roster.

Snell looked bad last year. I'm afraid he wouldn't look that great here. He seems to struggle with activity and passiveness and I don't know if he would be aggressive enough on offense to push has ahead. He would fit in great defensively though.
I still think Justin Holiday is the most attainable player for us and also the best option. If all it took was Ferguson I'd be all over that, but I'm skeptical someone like the Rockets could beat that.

Nah, man. Snell wouldn’t really have to be that aggressive to contribute. George takes Patterson’s minutes at the 4. He literally just needs to defend and hit open shots.

I think Holiday is a no go since he is an UFA. Presti is going to want to bring in talent that is controllable through next year at least.

Shooting the basketball is part of being aggressive. For a guy with his percentages and his lack of other skill, Snell didn't really shoot it that much last year. Some of it might have been Kidd, but Snell was also reluctant at times last year, when you consider he was shooting 40% on 3s.
I'm not saying he wouldn't be an upgrade or a nice rotation piece, I just don't think he would make as much of a difference as other guys who shoot in greater volume and also have more skill on the ball.

Snell is taking 8.7 3PA per 100 this year. His career average is 7.1.
For comparison, Ferguson is shooting 6.0 per 100 this year. Snell would be a very decent upgrade.
I also think he was misused when Kidd was there. One year he played the 3 and the next the 2. I think he’s most definitely a 2 in today’s league. I think he’s a bit too small to play the 3 but can play the 3 if needed.
Milwaukee seems low on him. Getting paid $10,000,000 now to play 16 minutes a game. Bucks could afford to lose him.

Jeff Goodman just mocked Jalen Smith to the Thunder. I can see Presti drafting him. Wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Talking to some of the members on Bucks board, they would trade Snell + Wood for Ferguson + Patterson. I’d strongly consider that if that’s an option on the table for Presti.
I think Wood might be able to handle the back up 5 next year. If not, we can go out and get a small ball 5 and/or rim-protector with our pick.
Snell makes up Ferguson’s defense and adds three point threat. That and George sliding down to 4 for a little bit can replace the loss of Patterson’s shooting.
Westbrook/Schroder/Felton
Snell/Abrines/Schroder/Diallo
George/Abrines/Diallo/Burton
Grant/Wood/George/Burton
Adams/Noel/Wood
We would be super deep.

Doesn't everyone on the Bucks board hate Snell and his contract? IIRC from my visits there last season they were ready to trade him for a bag of peanuts.

two concerns.
1. this adds $22 million to our tax payment this year, and puts our payment at 45 mil next year with noel gone.
2. do you have any evidence that tony snell is effective defensively?

There is no way we move Ferguson for snell. George isn’t going to be the staring 3 and the backup 4. He can’t play 48 minutes a game.

1. Even if we absorb Snell into Melo TPE this year?
2. Can I use DRPM here?
Ferguson DRPM = -0.88.
Snell DRPM= -0.93.
That’s this year.
If you want to back to Snell (20 mpg) on the Bulls, he was ranked 3rd in DRPM just ahead of Roberson and only getting beat out by Danny Green and Jeremy Lamb (18mpg).
In ‘16-17 he was ranked 19th in DRPM if you filter for 25+ MPG.
As I understand it, last season, he was dealing with injuries. That’s his lone bad DRPM year.
If we are confident Snell is healthy now, all we really need Snell to be is Ferguson defensively and be able to hit the 3. I feel confident he can at least do those things.
