Presti drafts like he's never seen a single mock and just puts all players on equal footing. There's a good argument that he should try to maneuver relative to where his favorites are projected to be drafted, but honestly when I watch footage of Tre Mann vs. guys drafted ahead of him, I can't really tell the difference in caliber. I only know that one guy is projected 15 and one 30, but without that, could you really differentiate? Historically, there's a couple obvious picks every draft at the very top, and after that, results differ greatly based on the work they do after tonight because many of them have the tools.

I like the giddey pick, but his one on one defense really concerns me. He looked completely outmatched in the clips I was seeing, like rec league vs D1 guys outmatched.

I really thought they would take a big in the first round.

Could be:

1. Kemba trade.

2.Free agency?

3. Other trade?

I kinda did too but nothing I'd be bothered by, off-season just started.

Yep, they could take a flyer on a big in the second as well. Plenty of ways to shore up the front court. Just a little underwhelmed with this, I guess.

Do you really like Carlos boozer that much?

He was sort of a less heralded Bouknight with a better jumper. So that seems sort of promising.

We really had enough assets to draft a combination of Giddey + Bouknight/Moody + Sengun/Garuba...I just don't get it.

I like vrenz for personality and being really tall. It'll be embarrassing when poku 2.0 is actually better than poku and still doesn't make it in the league

They got the minutes we don’t . But surely we can do with one big .

Second round soon

There were others I liked. If we are trying to consolidate picks, the second round seems like a better place to do that, don’t you think?

What's not to get? Why waste assets on guys that will be middling plays if you can kick the can and have those assets when you need them? It's not like those guys were sure things

I think we fall in love with every player in a draft. None of these guys are compared to busts on draft night, but that's what most of them will be. Better off adding more picks down the road and keeping powder dry for the guys you (well, presti) really think will make. We could've gotten 2 of x,y,z, aa, bb,cc. Sure, but 5 of those guys are going to be out of the league in four years

I just think most of us were expecting a little more, that’s all. But you are right, if you don’t see the value or potential, you push back from the table and hang on to your assets for a future deal. At some point though, they need to start spending a little of that draft capital.

In theory yes, but there were multiple sources that had Sengun as one of the better players available in this entire draft. Not saying those are foolproof but I think I'd have rather taken a shot at that dude than passed on him.

FWIW, analytical models were pretty high on Giddey.

I don’t have a problem with any move in particular. Any or all of them could be great. However it’s been over two years since we traded Russ and PG. I’ve said all along that this was our year to be aggressive to build around shai. Last year was fine to take a flyer on poku but this continual can kicking can’t go on forever. Maybe it doesn’t have to. Maybe we won the night. I thought the Suns were dumb for reaching for Cam Johnson a few years ago. I felt Presti should have traded Paul or at least Gallo at the deadline. I thought we waited too long to tank this year. The feeling is becoming too familiar. Maybe we do something with our cap space.
