I guess Donovan isn't going to see if Payne or Huestis can do anything to prove they can be in the rotation.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season Thread: Part IV
Well, Donovan finally got his wish: Singler "got going" against one of the two worst teams in the league who clearly aren't even trying anymore. Does 8 points and 2/2 from three constitute "got going"?
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

Man he got going like a man possessed. Did you see his bounce pass to Waiters?
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

Adams is now 15th in DRPM at 3.15. Kanter is 400th overall. Although Kanter is almost neutral at -0.6

KD needs to pull a Kobe/Smush Parker and publicly say which former garbage roll players didn't even belong in the league. 'Dion was the worst, he should have been playing in China. Huestis wouldn't have been a first round pick by any other team.'

Wonder if either one plays a single second in the playoffs? Seems plausible they wouldn't.

RPM is not a good (fair) indicator to compare two players. RPM takes into account teammates, if the teammates are good, RPM is likely good. Adams plays with Roberson, Ibaka, KD and Russ. Wheres Kanter plays mostly with Dion, Singler, Foye and Payne.
Last year Adams played mostly with the second unit, his DRPM was 1.54, ORPM was -2.72.
This year, his numbers are better because his teammates are offensively and defensively better, so his RPM. His contract year is this year, management plays him with the starters.
Tonight if starters do not play, we will see how much his RPM falls, to get an idea how much really he is good.

That's exactly not what RPM does.

Yes, it takes into accoutn playing with better players makes your numbers look better. That's how APM works. That doesn't mean it makes you look better because you play with better teammates. Perkins numbers were awful when he was with the starters here, Harden's were always great off the bench.

Here's Wayne Winston explaining what Advanced Plus-Minus does:
It reflects the impact of each player on his team's scoring margin after controlling for the strength of every teammate and every opponent during each minute he's on the court.
Adjusted +/- ratings indicate how many additional points are contributed to a team's scoring margin by a given player in comparison to the league-average player whose adjusted +/- value is zero over the span of a typical game. It is assumpted that in a typical game a team has 100 offensive and 100 defensive possessions. For example, if a +6.5 "adjusted +/-" player is on the floor with 4 average teammates, his team will average about 6.5 points better per 100 possessions than 5 average players would.

Seriously, I have not looked into these numbers in the past , simply I did not believe plus and minuses but I will read more about it.

I'd definitely recommend the player comparison board, and here's a site with some info on how it works:

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season Thread: Part IV
OKC offered Kanter 70 million last year, knowing he was at the bottom of Defensive metric, but I think they knew he could improve defensively , and consequently this year he improved by 2, and he is only 23. Same with Adams. I think working with KD and Russ, they get invaluable experience, hope two superstars stays with OKC, I think more thanb likely.

They didn't offer him that. They matched him.
And Adams is 22 with less experience.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season Thread: Part IV
Somehow, without KD, Russ, or IBaka, we score 32 points on the best defensive team in the NBA in the 1st quarter.

52% FG and 63% 3PT without SI, RW, and KD.
And they hold SA to 42% shooting...
