You were waiting for them to take the step beyond 'best team in the NBA'? Then I would say your expectations weren't in line with reality. We were always a smart team defensively prior to this year, with guys making good rotations, covering for one another, and using length and athleticism to force turnovers and blocked shots. There are three coaches that are 100% undoubtedly better than Brooks right now, Rick Carlisle, Pops and Kerr. He is in the level with the next group and I'd take him over any of them with the possible exception of Budenholzer.
The things that aren't working now were mostly there before Donovan; it's not like we were blowing every other team out of the water with Brooks.
That's not true. First, we were blowing teams out a lot, and our net rating showed it. But even great teams don't blow everyone out, instead they make enough good plays down the stretch to hold leads. Saying the same things aren't working is blatantly false, the problems we're having this year are either different or more pronounced. Especially against teams that are over .500
But you have to ask yourself: What stayed with Donovan gone? The players and the GM. And I think that's what you have to look at. You have to hold both the team and the management accountable.
Then why are you bringing up Brooks? But no, this really isn't the same players we've had. There is far more offensive talent than Scott ever had and yet it looks worse without Russ on the floor.
Why isn't Durant playing with more agressiveness? Why aren't we rebounding on the defensive end? How on earth is Dion Waiters still getting minutes?
Except for the Waiters thing, none of these were issues previously.
