They were good shots, I just think you're reading too much into it from my perspective. But I won't derail the thread any further, I'm not trying to change minds around here. Good win guys.

Also he had 2 blocks and 2 steals and was in good position defensively almost all game. I'm just not seeing the issue.

Yeah the shooting will definitely improve. PG/Melo will definitely find their rhythms and comfort zones. I'm more hopeful than their fan base is.

Honestly felt like Russ was a but off until I looked at the box score. Couldn't believe he put up those numbers. I guess because it wasn't a typical Russ game. He made it look easy. There are going to be nights where all 3 of these guys are on, and it's going to be disturbing.

It would probably make more sense to play Melo with Russ more and let PG carry the 2nd unit. Those stretches where it was Melo and the bench did not look good. He's not potent enough anymore to carry 4 bench players.

Gotta remember Felton, Abrines and Patterson are huge parts of that bench and all missed time. I just don't think you could draw conclusions of what he can't or shouldn't do based off of the first game especially considering the circumstances.

How about Dakari Johnson, guys? I was impressed with his energy and hustle off the bench. I know it was only 3 minutes and it was against the Knicks garbage time unit, but it was a good 3 minutes.

I've thought this for a while. He either needs to be Dad Melo or stick with Russ.

Understandable but you'll still have to wait and see how other guys perform to know who needs to go where.

Either way I think Donovan should always have 2 of Russ/Melo/PG/Adams in the game mixed in with Dre/Abrines/PP/Felton.

I think for Melo its all about picking your spots and being quick with them while being aggressive but patient.

I'm actually really excited for Dakari a ton. Very active during the garbage time, just needs to get faster.

Yeah, he needs to slim down just a bit and I think he will be fine. Hopefully, he can pull an Okafor and go vegan and lose 20 lbs.

It's a really good sign that the entire team is being super active on the defensive end and running their ass off in transition. Love it.

Defense was very nice. If they can keep that up all season they will be near the top.
If we get THAT Adams for 82 I think you can genuinely say OKC has a big 4. He just knows where to be on every defensive possession.
Russ was almost quiet and got 16 assists! He will be loving this new lineup.
Felton looked like the crafty vet we need him to be.
I'm quickly losing my patience with Grant. His defensive positioning was once again terrible. Drained a 3 or two though.
Melo tried too hard I feel. He needs to get into more of a flow on offense and let shots come to him. His shot selection was poor.
PG was the same to a lesser degree. It will take time though.
Kanter showed us all why Sleestak and co are so wrong about him. He cannot guard anyone and was useless in the post with a better defender on him.
He finally got to start and proved to be just as **** as most of us thought with a -22
Knicks will be fighting for the bottom seed this year

They really need another big, and the offense was bad at times, but Russ and Steven were excellent.

Other than the big 3 the thing that stood out to me was Steven Adams' defense. He reminded me of Karl Malone the way he was able to dig his hand into players' pockets and poke the ball away. Always thought he had strong and quick hands and he had potential to just lock the pick and roll down in all sorts of situations, whether that's switching onto point guards or intercepting passes on the roll.

Thanks for posting, glad someone else noticed too. I kinda have him as my homer low key MIP runner.

I think regarding improvement, he might (hopefully) be up there.
But I'm very confident that he won't put up the raw numbers to entice voters voting for him.

Dakari has 3 OREBs in 2 minutes. So if he played 36mins... you know where this ends.

On a second note he got all of them against Willy H, not the 36minute projection guy.

Yeah agree there, I think thats a weak spot for him doing anything like it. Just hope he's back to 16 form.
