Sole possession of 10th place in the West. A great summer and an good coach. Or maybe less.

Oh... and Melo needed to sit down the stretch of this game. I have no idea why he gets to be on the floor based off reputation when he cant buy a basket. Patterson would have been far better down the stretch. I don't care who it is, if they are playing badly they need to sit. That includes Russ especially.
He has no equity on the team yet as far as I'm concerned.

At least Jerami Grant appears to actually be improving. So that's something.

This was a clear indicator of what a difference a good coach makes.
We were so dominant in the 1st half.
then We looked like a 30th seed playing a top seed.
We were chasing our tails all 2nd half. After no Celtic getting any good shots, we went to running to every corner of the court to recover.
Russ went into panic mode again. Melo
Went cold.
I am now genuinely concerned that trading PG for Oladipo and Sabonis was a huge mistake

Man, what a frustrating game. We were spanking their sorry assses in the first half. Then queue the refs in the 3rd (the amount of disrespect for both George and Melo around the rim is season is staggering btw) and our sloppiness with Russ and Melo just being so careless and there you have it. The Celtics started making a bunch of bs shots and we were in our own heads.
Russ to me plays like he's on the one hand overwhelmed by the sudden addition of options to the team, and on the other hand like he thinks that he can get away with a lot of possessions because of that.

Yes, that is a valid worry.
Good God guys, just stop. I know one is prone to overreactions directly after games, but some of these posts...do you even remember Sabonis and Oladipo playing here?
And yes, I know we gave away both Minnesota games with the same sloppiness, so it is a valid concern to raise. But please stop acting like we're either worldbeaters or the 2013 Lakers based on one half every two days.

Re: 11/3 - POSTGAME | Boston Celtics (101) - (94) Oklahoma City Thunder
3 reasons OKC lost this game: 1) Obviously Carmelo going 3-17 stands out as the main catalyst. If he has even a remotely decent game OKC wins. 2) Roberson being on the court WAY too long, specifically in the 3rd qtr. when OKC was outscored by 14 points. That 10 minute stretch he was out there epitomizes every issue that he causes offensively with not only his complete inability to contribute anything but also allowing the Celtics to play 5 against 4 on defense. You take the 28 minutes he played down to the 14-16 that he should be playing and the Thunder probably win this one. 3) Adams simply can't guard mobile bigs who can shoot out to the 3 pt. line. Just like we saw with Anthony-Towns who absolutely destroyed him Horford killed OKC late in the game continuing to hit outside shots that Adams just couldn't cover. That's a bad loss considering Boston doesn't even have Hayward.

PG has been a shell of him former self since coming here. Billy gave him as many looks as he wanted tonight and brought very little to the table.

Well it wasn’t a mistake because dononvan wasn’t capable of using Oladipo and Sabonis correctly. Although I am thinking last years team could beat this one.

I’ve heard a lot about Patterson being our small ball center. We should have put him on Horford when we were getting lit up. However dononvan would rather put guys in unfamiliar situations than make the moves to win the game.

Trade Donovan and Westbrook for Rozier and Stevens and I think we are a better team. That’s not a knock on Russ but that shows how much Dononvan fails to get the maximum out of his players.

Donovan fluked into 2 good coaching decisions vs the Spurs and Warriors 2 years ago, and has been complete garbage otherwise. Why does anyone think this guy is a good coach?

I think due to Lebron essentially being the coach/GM of his team, coaching in the nba has been undervalued when you have all stars. History shows that talent alone cannot overcome bad coaching.
We will have some really exciting games this year where we think it’s all coming together. We will also have more games like tonight because we fail to make in game adjustments.

I don't get all this Donovan hate after this game. It's public that I don't consider him to be a great or even good coach, but what were the horrendus errors by him in this game? Just the Celtics going small didn't suddenly turn us into trash. We started living in our own heads again because we didn't get calls (both Russ and Melo started forcing shots to get to the line) and then just lost all momentum. I agree we should have played Patterson at the 4 more, but come on, this is not on him. We have proven players out there who just stopped giving effort, had some bad luck with shots and the Celtics had some incredible luck with some of their shots and just general plays.

I think it's mainly because he didn't adjust on the defensive end while Brad Stevens made very good switches. I mean, Kyrie did not have a single open lock during the first half, then last quarter we let him and Horford taking so many easy shots. He started putting Roberson on him only very late in the game.
Still, I think Donovan deserves some credit for our overall good defense starting games. He's just unable to adjust right now.

Buddy. I respect your opinion but I must disagree here. Playing the correct lineups to match up or put the other team into a unfavorable matchup is the single most important thing a coach does in the NBA. If Donovan can't do that, then what good is he really? If he's playing a lineup more favorable the matching up against the small line up the Celtics were playing, maybe suddenly the effort from all the other players looks better. Because maybe the results are better.

Donovan fell right into Stevens trap man, was hard to watch, Carmelo also got hunted on D, the C's ate him alive, the offense is so lousy with the talent you guys got too
Right when I saw Morris starting the 2nd half I knew Boston was gonna make a comeback, more Ojeleye minutes were key and they involved Horford in PnP a ton more, which killed your D

Careful. You are starting to sound like another poster who said at the time it wasn't a good trade for OKC and hurt the team/roster.
