How about Oklahoma City Cyclones?

Sounds good but no motivation to make it the cyclones.

Well the official state animal is the Bison, so maybe incorporating that? They also have state birds, reptiles, fish etc...

Green and White are the state colors (maybe a Michigan State color scheme?)

A lot of these sound like they belong on an Arena Football team or a 2A baseball team. Barons is alright.

What about the 89ers? Like the old triple a baseball team before they moved to bricktown and changed their name to the redhawks. 1889 is when the landrush happened and Oklahoma was opened to settelment. There could be some cool jersey possiblities with that

ATL Hawks fan here. I'm intrigued with your discussion, and wanted to join it with a team name/color scheme of my own.

I was thinking in the vein of the Miami Heat when I thought of this name for your new team:

The Oklahoma City Wind.

I like Cyclones too...but I thought Wind flowed a lil bit better IMO. And when you think Wind...you think FAST and SPEED. Kinda like a the WIND a SUPERSONIC jet makes. Not to mention the your state being one of the nations windiest.

The team colors should be that of the Bison (brown) and the state beverage of milk (off white/bone) with a burnt orange trim (like a NBA basketball color). The NBA doesn't have a team with predominantly brown colors....to me...that would be HOT!

And the logo should be the word WIND....with a wind breeze with a trail of dust. Kinda like The Miami Heat with the flame over the "T" in Heat.

Just a thought guys...what do you all think? All the best to NBA OKC!

How about the Oklahoma Cowboys? or OKCowboys? I think that's a pretty natural one, fits the state's heritage.

I like the Oklahoma Thunder too.

IMO Seattle fans would feel that OKC Bandits or Outlaws is all too appropriate. I think those names should be disqualified for that reason. I think the Bullets only changed their name because of DCs horrible crime rate. It would have been fine otherwise, IMO.

I think Thunder, Cyclones and Cowboys sound good

How politically correct does this name have to be? I mean, the Celtics have been around, but the correct way to pronounce Celtics is the wrong way to say it culturally.

How about Streaks? Or Caravan? The Cavalry? The Rattlers? The Oh-What-A-Beautiful-Mornings?

Oklahoma came from the Native American "red people", and the NBA doesn't have a Native American team name yet.

The Oklahoma Sages would also be a good tribute to the Native American history of the state.

The state has the most diverse range of Native American languages out of the whole US.
