Ok. So we can make fun of you for a bad joke.
And no problem. Only issue was insistence PG has been clearly better when to multiple people he hasn't.

lots of people believe all sorts of things. i'd be willing to bet that to most of the basketball intelligentsia, paul durant has been superior to baron westbrook this year so far. mostly on the strength of elite defensive presence. i mean dude, you're citing assist%. come on.

Westbrook had a better steal percentage than PG a year ago and not a soul thinks he was a better defender

uh yeah. steal% is an estimate of the number of opponent possessions ends with a steal by the player. probably the best rate statistic for steals since it controls for minutes and pace.

assist% is an estimate of the % of teammate FGM a player assists while they're on the court. less useful. not even a rate statistic, really. influenced by teammate productivity outside of baron's control. within the structure of our offense, baron's going to maintain a high assist% since the ball is in his hands so much and it's isolations otherwise.

as a 30% usage player, russ' scoring efficiency and tov% would have far more bearing on how productive than he's been than his assist%. wouldn't you agree?

Alao, remove literally 2 games and Russ is at a .538 TS.

george was bad on defense last year. that was a major concern coming into this one but it looks like it was a mirage.

steal% is a factor. you do this dumb thing every time where i'll post something and you'll take it to mean that this thing is the sole basis for an argument.

'he said george leads the league in steal%? that must mean he also thinks steal% is a standalone indicator of defensive superiority'.

do you take pleasure in twisting my words around?

Oh so using steal percentage was arbitrary. In that case why post it. They also have identical steal per. for their career.

because he leads the league in steal% and that is goddamn impressive? and he's doing that while also shot contesting regularly and meeting his other defensive responsibilities? do you think this isn't impressive?

Leading the league in a stat that doesn't inherently mean much apparently. No then.

So saying he had a few really horrendous games dragging down his numbers isn't true. Good deal

who said it doesn't mean much? it's a strong indicator for defensive impact especially for a wing. not all great defensive wings get a lot of steals, like joe dumars. but most do.

you seem to think this thing has to either mean everything or nothing. if it has value, then it's absolute value, and it means westbrook was better than george on defense last year.

if it's not an absolute measure of defensive proficiency, then it's worthless.

there's a middle ground here where it's impressive that paul george is leading the league in steal% and is a factor in his defensive aptitude this season!

Its impressive in as much as it meaningful he has the same career percentage as Russ.

You're right he's just been awful. Not a good thing at all. Better than PG but still bad.

i would say his stl% to date this season speaks to his defensive aptitude this season. we are going around in circles here. you will do anything in an attempt to discredit me.
