What are the theories in the steep dropoffs in Westbrook's shooting?

Well off his career averages in 3P% and FT%.

Maybe he gets hot in the second half to get back to his averages?

Main theory is : his knees are screwed and he can't shoot anymore.

He's starting to find his midrange shot back though so it gives me a bit of optimism (maybe he wasn't in shape yet after missing training camp and his ankle sprain).

I think he was/is massively out of shape.

Massively? He doesn't *look* massively out of shape... And his FT sucked last year and the year before too.

"The year before" Westbrook made a career high of 84.5 % of his free throws.

Yeah, MB. Point still stands. His Ft went in to a nose dive after the rule changes, and it seems pretty obviously mental with him. He doesn't look out of shape to me. He's as big as he's ever been, maybe not as cut, but his bigger frame fits his play-style more.

He had kids and lost some of his pscyhotic drive? Seems rational and natural. Spending time with your new family > spending an extra hour a day shooting free throws. Then the dropoff gets in his head and becomes a mental block thing. I'd take him as is in a second, but if he could find that 10-16'/FT stroke again coupled with his improvements on defense and decision making, holy lord.

I think he's regaining his psychosis.

Holy crap. I knew he'd be the first player with a retired number. Fan (and organization) favorite was worth a lot to him as it turned out.

i get it. but he'll be one of the worst players to have their number retired who didn't die during their playing career (e.g. malik sealy, bobby phils). they could have waited and done westbrook or durant first.

If a guy was a fan favorite and Iarge part of the franchises’ history I’ve got not problem with retiring his number despite not being an all star.

Haslem will be up there too. Had a little higher and longer peak than Nick though.

Miami heat Michael Jordan is forever the worst
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

yeah. there's something about being first though. the mavs did this too with brad davis. a so-so pg who played there in the 80's. they could have waited a bit and made rolando blackman the first, which would have been more appropriate.

i don't disagree with nick getting his jersey retired it just would have been better had someone a bit better than him been the first. there's no time limit on this.
