Re: 2019-2020 Trade Deadline Thread
Will Patton be waived/ traded today? Hes contract becomes fully guaranteed by 5 PM if he is still on the roster.
Noel has been out the past couple of games and Patton has been with the team.

Gary Clark on the waiver wire. I'd be pretty interested if he lasts til their turn.

Re: 2019-2020 Trade Deadline Thread
What do you think of Adams + Gallo for Marc Gasol + Norman Powell + Stanley Johnson + protected future 1st round pick?
OKC saves $9M this year and around $10M next year (more if Johnson doesn't exercise his ~$4M option).
Gasol is a solid vet on an expiring deal.
Prior to getting hurt Powell was having the best year of his career averaging 14 ppg and shooting 39% from deep. He is undersized but a good defender because of his athleticism and wingspan. Powell is not a young prospect at 26 but he's heading into the prime years of his career. He has a $11.6M option in 2021.
Johnson is basically salary filler; he's been hurt most of the year.
The pick protection can be structured so that it is likely to convey in whichever year you want. Right now it'll be in the 20s.

I have no idea what Presti wants to do.
He'd probably want more or different, but the proposal is within the range of consideration. Depending on what the plan is.
Could flip Gasol again. Johnson again if anybody else was willing to take him.
Thousands of possibilities.

The Thunder had interest in Powell when he was a RFA, I don't think he is viewed in the same light as then especially since a lot of things have changed. But, I think they want at least a first for either guy. I would even go out on a limb and say the Thunder would want two first rounders for Steven. He is 26, a great locker room guy, unselfish, and someone who plays the right way. Those things aren't earth shattering but you can' say that about many players in the league. Plus, I think the Thunder could get him a lot cheaper on an extension in a couple of years.
I would expect the Thunders price tag on Gallo is a first plus a young guy and/or a 2nd. The Thunder will retain Gallo's bird rights in the off season if they don't move him at the deadline. I think that factors into the price tag at the deadline.

Who could use Schroeder before he loses all his value? (small value but better than expected)

Re: 2019-2020 Trade Deadline Thread
I was listing to Hollinger the other day and he made a statement that one thing he learned in his time in the NBA every team EVERY Team hated their backup PG, and wanted to upgrade that position.
I would say that all teams need a guy like him. But, my question to you is will he lose this value? Or did he take the next step. I think you keep this squad together. If Schroder does this for a full season he could be more valuable in the off season.
But, in all reality how many picks does Presti need for the re-build? 15 FRP ain't enough?

Re: 2019-2020 Trade Deadline Thread
Jae makes some sense on this team. He could play 10 min on nights that Diallo & Ferguson stay out of foul trouble or he could play 30 min and spend a bunch of time guarding the other teams top wing.
He is only shooting 30% from 3. Memphis is in the 9th seed right now. They might have interest in trying for the 8th seed since their first rounder is top 6 protected and most likely going to Boston.

If Jae was available.., what would be your/OKC potential offer/deal??.

I think your valuation of Adams and Gallinari is high. You're suggesting two more 1st round picks and another prospect and/or 2nd round pick in addition to what I proposed.
I agree with what you are saying in terms of what Adams brings to the table but Gasol possesses the same characteristics as well as championship experience. Obviously there is the age difference but I don't think it is a big consideration since Gasol is expiring and Adams only has one more year on his deal. Things would be different if Gasol was making big money into his late-30s and/or Adams was locked up going into his prime years. In terms of Gallinari, I think that price tag might be reasonable if he wasn't an expiring contract; I can't see anyone giving up that much for him.
Perhaps I am not up-to-date with OKC's financials but I would have thought the salary relief in my proposal was pretty valuable. This isn't the kind of trade that would put Toronto over the top and make them a legit Finals contender so I don't think they would give up more 1st round picks since they may need those assets going into 2021 and beyond.
Thanks for the discussion.

Gallo is worth a late first and I think Adams as well but not so sure.
Wouldn't agree to your initial offer but yeah no one would pay 2 FRP for Adams (or he would be gone already)

yeah but no team is willing to pay 15 millions for a back up PG.
It's really tough to figure out Schroeder's value right now. He had a negative trade value so right now I would say just above neutral...clearly not worth a FRP obviously. Maybe another bad contract and a ''meh'' young player.
It's not so much about how many picks Presti need for the rebuild, it's when we will get those picks. If we can draft 3 guys every year it will certainly help the rebuild (then we can trade the other picks for good role players).

The valuation is high. Adams and Gallo with this team, could win a playoff series. The Thunder have 15 FRP, they aren't going to use all of them so getting another one or two from the Raptors isn't really that helpful since they would be later FRP's, especially it its a protected pick. Now if we are talking about a Suns FRP I think that's a different story.
If the Thunder acquired Gasol he wouldn't be there for longer than 3 months, if he even steps foot in OKC. While Adams could be there for another 5+ years, at a massive discount to what he makes now. He is a tone setter, he can play with most of the centers in the league, he plays the right way. While Gasol is having the worst year in his entire career. Its a 8 year age difference between the two.
CP3 put it best yesterday on Gallo he a quiet assassin. Gallo is having a great year. Yes he is a FA next year but, look at the teams have have over $15 million in cap space. He ain't signing with them. So he is a sign and trade candidate during the off season, where you might be able to get a coveted 2022 FRP. Presti has always been fond of Gallo. I think Presti is going to have his cake and eat it too. He could re-up Gallo and run it back next year as well. Having 15 FRP's lets Presti do whatever he wants to do.
The Thunder are right around the Tax Line. They were always planing to pay it this year then the PG trade happened. I think they are willing to go into the tax, but would have interest in dipping under the line.
But, one protected FPR to sell this season just isn't worth it IMO. The money that could be brought in for a playoff series would off set the tax bill.

I don't believe the thunder front office believes this at all. Smart, wealthy businessmen don't retire after their first million.

They have 15 FRP:
4 Unprotected FRP: 21 Miami, 22 LAC, 24 LAC, 26 LAC
4 lightly protected FPR: 20 Denver (top 20 protected), 23 Miami (unprotected in 26), 24 Hou (top 4 protected) & 26 Hou (top 4 protected)
5 of their own: 21 (Hou Pick Swap), 23, 24, 25 (Hou pick swap), & 26
2 of their own that are highly protected: 20 (top 20 protected) 22 (lottery protected)
All of these picks are likely to stay in OKC. If you were to add a Raptors protected FRP where would you rank that in our 15 FRP over the next 7 years? Is that really worth giving up a playoff series (or 2) this year for both Gallo and Adams and take on Powell contract.
I just don't see the value in that. Now if the Suns want to send us a 22 unprotected FRP with Johnson for Gallo I think the Thunder need to seriously consider that deal. But, to get a protected pick from a good team and even a better GM I rather ride it out. I think Gallo will fetch more in a sign and trade and I think Adams is WAY more valuable to this team than a protected FRP in the 20's.

It's true, but they also don't hold garage sales. The value of draft picks does decrease at a certain point. I don't believe we've reached that point yet, but I would be selective moving forward, more likely to gamble on a single top ten protected than accept a couple of top twenty protected.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

First, successful businesses (closely held corporations, LLCs, sole proprietorships) sell to larger ones all the time because lots of people are interested in cashing out and relaxing at some point. We don't hear about it in the news because those people, having cashed out, don't ever become Jeff Bezos or Mark Zuckerberg, etc.
Second, the value of a dollar in absolute terms remains the same regardless of wealth but in relative terms decrease past a certain point. To illustrate, say I (a middle-income American) wins 2 million dollars in the lottery. That's life-changing money for me. I'm paying off my mortgage, possibly moving to a larger house, etc. Say Jeff Bezos wins an extra 2 million? It makes almost no impact in his life at all. It would be like me winning $2.
At some point acquiring ever more draft picks would be similar I'd think. Not saying we're there yet but it seems conceivable the relative return diminishes eventually if we're talking late 1sts and second-rounders, etc.

I don't think those 2024 or 2026 FRP matters right now. The most important thing is to surround SGA (and Bazley) with other young talented guys as soon as possible so we can have a good team in 3-4 years and trade those future picks for good players.
Only way for that is trading our assets like Gallo for young talented players (tough to acquire) or 2020/2021 FRP's.

I don't think we will keep all of them however it gives us the flexibility to do so many things. Going for the playoffs could cost us a pick for Gallo and our own pick if we continue winning. Those two picks could be the difference in getting the complimentary role players we have lacked for many years or getting another Randy Foye. Those picks could be used to get a great player that becomes available. Instead of having 3 picks in one draft, they could be used to exploit a desperate team that wants something and we end up swapping picks to a later draft.
