It's important to shield Donovan and rewrite history in order for the narrative to stay alive.

This is so dumb. He had favorable matchups he exploited against San Antonio. Enes Kanter was actually a difference maker in that series FFS. Then against Goldenstate they won like 1 more game than they probably should have because Dion Waiters had his regular 1 game in every 10-15 where he actually played well and hit shots. He turned back into a pumpkin and our goose was cooked. Donovan did nothing special in either series.

Also the team underperformed in the 15-16 regular season. They had numerous games they pissed away and lost that we imminently winnable. Sound familiar?

the thunder were a 7+ srs team in the 15-16 season, 2nd best in okc history. they made the wcf. come on. they beat a 10+ srs team in the playoffs and barely lost to another.

i don't think billy had much to do with that playoff run either but the point is you can't indiscriminately blame someone for failures while also withholding any credit for victories.

Aren't you sort of doing that also when you insinuate that Russ doesn't listen to him anyway though? If he's not listening to him then surely it mitigates how much credit Donovan gets for those victories, almost all of which Russ has a huge hand in.

He actually went small in the Warriors series for the first to s that series, something Brooks had been doing very successfully, yet Donovan never did that save for those couple of games vs the Warriors.

Name the 1 thing Donovan did in either series that was something a replacement level coach wouldn't have seen? I realize this is like proving a negative (you can't) but just try. I doubt you'll be able to isolate anything out of the ordinary any other coach in the playoffs couldn't have come up with?

His performance, even the one his defenders most often point too was fairly average.

It's almost like part of his job is to get players to respect him...

He said if you are open you have to take them. That’s not a good open shot for Westbrook. He’s not Curry.

So you're saying don't listen to him then. Well that's odd.

So now Westbrook doesn’t respect Donovan? Interesting take. Care to explain?

Given that according to you Donovan wants a motion/ball movement offense, and none of the roster moves off the ball or passes, I'm inferring that from you. Unless you're saying he's telling them to stand around.

Let's at least call it for what it is - Presti hired his mate.

I’m glad some non-OKC fans can see what’s going on.

[Erik Horne] Donovan said he didn't think it was a terrible shot Westbrook took with the C's up 3 with 27 s left, but he also said message was "we don't need a 3." "He got off a clean look. As a player, you've got to be able to make those decisions at that point and time."

How dare you. How dare you demand of Billy The Conqueror to actually do his job. He was not hired to perform such a task. Just let him be.
