I agree although lately people have been talking about herro like he’s Zion. Nice prospect but he was the 13th pick in a weak draft.
Hi guys. Heat fan. I come in peace.

This is a valid point, but Herro is getting the hype because of the way he's playing. He's handling, shooting, penetrating, and finishing. As a Heat fan I'm excited to see him play for my team. At the same time, if we can keep Bam and Winslow and still get Westbrook, I'd do the trade. Unfortunately that likely means you guys have to take James Johnson's contract to make it work (as well as Dragic), financially as we're hard capped this year. We'd obviously remove the protections on the 2023 pick and probably give a lightly protected 2025 pick. Would you guys be ok with that sort of deal?

for me johnson + dragic is the baseline and anything added to that would be gravy. i like winslow more than herro. i think it's odd that herro has not signed his rookie deal yet.

johnson + dragic + herro + removed protections on 2023 pick for westbrook seems more than fair to me. i would also accept dragic + waiters + winslow for westbrook + patterson. that's nearly equivalent salaries.

Westbrook for Herro, Johnson, Dragic, '25 firstroundpick and removing protection from '23 firstroundpick? Yes, I would defintely do it.

I get that SL performances are exciting but they are meaningless. If OKC had drafted hero and he was playing well in SL, I would be hopeful too but we've seen time and again that SL performances are not indicative of how a player performs in the league. That would be true if he were chucking away like RJ Barrett.

I gotta say, I hope Riley and Presti negotiate this easily. I wonder if the rumors of the Cavs involvement has to do with them taking Dragic and returning Jr Smith in order to get you guys some immediate salary relief...

I'm not personally hyping the dude. I'm willing to trade him. I have hopes he'll be very good, but I understand that he's a rookie and may not be as good as he looks in summer league playing against some inferior competition.

One one hand, most leaks involving the thunder aren't accurate. So I won't be shocked if he's traded somewhere we don't expect. If he does end up going to Miami I think the only holdup for a deal getting completed is finding a third team that satisfies whatever can't be completed between OKC and Miami.

I think the minimum is Herro, remove protection on the 2023 pick and 2025 first unprotected. Throw in Nunn and Okpala then the salary match of James Johnson and Dragic and is probably what I would be trying to end up at if I were Miami. I think OKC either wants Bam included or sent to another team for a first round pick. If Riley could somehow reroute Dragic to a 3rd team and get a first for him I think that would get a deal done with Herro, Nunn, Okpala, Johnson the picks and maybe salary lower than Dragic from the 3rd team by $6M or so to get OKC out of the tax.

Herro is having a nice summer league and he is an exciting prospect, but he's not a superstar talent. He could be a very good role player for OKC like Ibaka was, but I don't see him as the 2nd or 3rd best player on a contender. It is possible Herro goes beyond those projections, but I don't think either Presti or Riley really value him as a future star just a future good player not a future all-star.

Would be almost perfect for me (would be nice if we can do something about the 2021 unprotected pick because we are indirectly helping the Heat to be good for the next 2-3 years).

minimum lol...we are used to get some very nice value in trades and we just got SGA + 5 first pick but it's hard to feel confident about what we can get in this deal :(

3 years of Winslow before he becomes an UFA...is it worth it? I really don't think it does (doesn't fit our timeline). He has value for Miami so I don't think it's the good idea to trade for him since we won't get that many assets back.

i don't think terrance ferguson moves the needle for miami at all.

Never know. He's a SG. Herro's a SG. Miami is hard capped so warm bodies to fill out the roster could be persuasive.

What OKC could have gotten for Russ 2 years ago, when he was PG's age, and what OKC can get for Russ today is totally different. Keep in mind Presti wasn't trading PG he was trading a PG and Kawhi combo!!! You think LAC gives up anywhere near what they did without that guarantee that they were getting Kawhi and their fear of LAL? Russ isn't bringing a top 3 player with him or is there a fear that Russ will go to a team and make them a massive championship favorite.

Russ is in a fast decline as you saw last year. He can't even shoot a mid-range jumper or FT at an acceptable rate at this point much less a three. Whoever trades for Russ is paying for his past and name value just like when Presti traded for Melo.

sam presti is usually motivated to get a deal like this done quickly even at the expense of value. he's sensitive to this sort of optics in the past. so i think something will get done if something is there. involving a third team to save some salary on our end is very possible. we're $4.5 million into the tax. if a westbrook trade can be done that doesn't hurt too bad and the thunder get under the tax at the same time it wraps up the summer neatly.

I know thank you...

Russ had a lot of trade value 2 years ago but then PG13 wasn't coming and never traded for SGA and 5 first picks so why does it matter to be pissed at Presti about Russ? He did the right thing about Russ/PG13. He made some stupid decisions (hiring and keeping Donovan in the first place, overpaying Adams even if he's a good player, not bringing shooters, and many others) but I don't think he made a mistake with Russ.

Yea and if he wants a better contract he needs to learn how to dribble. If he has an entire season as a starter without getting phased out by Russ and George and he still looks the same, I don't think its unfair to lower expectations significantly.

And I still want to see him shooting well from 3 on a regular basis. He had a crazy nice run but his shot is still weird and barely hit the rim during the playoffs.

In what world is Miami a contender? I know they have Butler, but after they trade us their assets, how is that a contending team? I still don't see Miami getting out of the 1st round. I just don't really understand Russell's decision, other than just wanting to live there.

Oh, I still don't expect him to be able to dribble. But Danny green can't either and he's worked out nicely.

Miami, big franchise, some hope to attract vets for cheap in the next years etc.

Still think Lakers with his bodies Lebron and AD would be his dream but can't happen so...
