Not the most likely but I wouldn't be surprised if Presti waits December if Miami doesn't want to give up ANY asset.

I think that would be toxic and potentially catastrophic. Are you not going to play Russ? You also risk him become the undisputed worst contract in the league if he gets injured.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
couldn't we get under the tax by involving dallas, too? would they take dragic for lee?
okc out: westbrook, nader, burton
okc in: j. johnson, c. lee
dal out: c. lee
dal in: g. dragic, nader, burton
mia out: j. johnson, g. dragic
mia in: westbrook
gets us under the tax, dallas can cut nader and burton, miami gets westbrook. a pick can go to dallas somewhere if it needs to. miami can add herro and / or waive protections on the picks we own if we need to. seems like a way to kill three birds with one stone for us.

i agree. any move that has to be made for optics sam presti has acted quickly. even extensions i.e. steven adams. he's not sitting on this for long. i would be shocked if we went into the season with westbrook on the team or if we're in the tax.

Presti isn’t in a hurry to the point that it has to get done this week, although that would be ideal. I expect it to get done before camp starts, but a deal with Miami while cutting salary is complicated.
I’m not sure Dallas is interested in Dragic at this point.

If Westbrook knows something about a team (that he likes) willing to trade for him in December, he could be ok with it.

Pro/cons miami
-Jimmy get out to play solo and maybe he dont want westbrook, also he say that kat and wiggins were soft , he would not have that problem with westbrook
-we are making better miami and we already have their picks
-I think they dont want to give Herro out , we dont need Bam we have three centers (muscala, noel, adams) and I am not sold on wislow
If we make a trade to detroit we need someone to take reggie I dont want him near this team again prefer Dion waiters

Our draft pick haul from the clippers suddenly has potential to be even better.

Since the LAC picks have great potential with PG’s injury history, Kawhi’s history and their cap outlook. I can see every pick from them ending up being a lottery pick and executing the pick swaps.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
^Honestly, that likely suggests Kawhi is looking to sign an juicy five-year max on a ten-year player scale, so it'll depend massively on his health and decline.
Regardless, here is a trade offer, assuming you move Russell Westbrook. It would have to wait two-months for Treveon Graham to be traded to another team because of the two-month rule.
MIN: Danilo Gallinari
OUT: Gorgui Dieng, Treveon Graham, Minnesota's 2020 First Round Draft Pick (1-14 Protected), and Seconds (negotiable)
Why for Minnesota? Shave off a year of Gorgui Dieng and use the remainder of their space (under the hard cap) on an excellent fit next to Karl-Anthony Towns and Robert Covington.
OKC: Gorgui Dieng, Treveon Graham, Minnesota's 2020 First Round Draft Pick (1-14 Protected), and Seconds (negotiable)
OUT: Danilo Gallinari
Why for Oklahoma City? Get another first along with a collections seconds and get comfortable under the Luxury Tax.
The number and years on the seconds are fully negotiable, Minnesota could provide two 2022 Seconds.

I don't think its a horrible deal. It just really depends if OKC wants to take on Dieng's salaray or if they think that they can get a first for Gallinari without taking on bad salary since he was pretty good last year when he's healthy.

You guys are crazy if you think OKC is trading just for a protected first round pick. There were terrible mediocre players getting traded for 1st rounder, and Russ although on a beefy contract, is worth MORE. Period.
I'm keeping him here, its worth it more than a protected first round pick. We'll still be in a lottery with him.

sam presti is usually motivated to get a deal like this done quickly even at the expense of value. he's sensitive to this sort of optics in the past. so i think something will get done if something is there. involving a third team to save some salary on our end is very possible. we're $4.5 million into the tax. if a westbrook trade can be done that doesn't hurt too bad and the thunder get under the tax at the same time it wraps up the summer neatly.
The's a more obvious reason he'll probably end up folding rather than holding the line to drive a hard bargain other than perceived optics. Russ wants to go to Miami if Woj's report is credible (which, he generally is). After years of giving into and catering to Russ' wishes Presti may find himself incapable of standing up to him now. Hopefully that's wrong.

the back end of westbrook's contract is toxic. keeping him after all this would be toxic. he's going to get traded and it will be for the best value sam presti can get, which may be less than what you want. in a few seasons when we see what 2022-23 westbrook actually looks like on the basketball court it will all make sense.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
The westbrook trade return value will be much deeper than what it initially appears when its complete. If Sam chooses this route, how many more picks could we potentially get by taking back bad contracts with cap space that Russ' massive contract would have filled in years to come?

I mean, do we really need that much more picks ? I know they are THE asset to have, but from our point, we'll have to incorporate atleast 2 good 1st round rookies into our team every year, as things are starting to roll out.

LOL Heat perfer to not trade Herro or Bam.
So basically they aren't willing to trade anything for Russ.

I want us to have the first, second and third pick in the 2021 NBA draft.
