Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
Depending on what he wants to do (where to play, money) would you keep Adams as a long term piece? He won't get THAT much money in his next contract and he fits well into our ''culture''. It's sometimes very tricky to draft/develop centers so I could see Adams staying as an option.
Guess we will know next offseason when his trade value will be higher as an expiring.

Who says no to this
OKC:

MIA '21 1st, i'd consider adding our Memphis '24 2nd round pick if neccesary/possible to get Herro

How did you guys not win a championship with Durrant, Harden and Westbrook?

It is virtually impossible to get out of the tax in a trade with Miami since they are hard capped. Maybe Sam just thinks Andre doesn't have a future here and was hoping they'd bite.slick_watts wrote:off-loading a pick or two to get out of chris paul's contract is fine. especially since we can choose worse picks than the ones we just got for westbrook. we'd still be improving our assets in a sense-- in a roundabout way. barry jackson a miami beat writer said today that sam presti was attempting to attach andre roberson to any westbrook to miami deal. this suggests that getting under the tax was a priority and that perhaps doing this chris paul trade first was a way to get the draft capital to make all the other stuff happen. it's a clever set of moves if it works out. if sam presti can get it done -without- attaching any picks then this is a legendary summer from him.

a third team would be involved to take someone like waiters. this is where i think one or more of our picks come into play. we would get well under the tax and miami would be able to match salaries.

Dion Waiters/Schroeder looks like a solid combo to start a rebuild. Shame Kyle Singler and Kanter aren't there anymore.

The Nuggets have a couple of trade exception that expire on 7/15. 7/15 is also the date for JR Smith's and Nader's guarantee dates.
I would expect a deal by Monday, and if not this might carry on for a bit.

So you think the actual trade to Miami won't cost us a pick being sent to them? We will send it to a third team for the salary dump?

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
I do not want us to attach a pick to Paul to get under the luxury tax.
I think the easiest way to accomplish that is just trading Gallinari for a worse player with a lesser salary (e.g. Gallinari for C. Lee+small asset).
That said, I still think we should field a competetive(but still bad enough to lose a lot) team to let our young players grow.
Right now we have way to many guards and to few forwards.
I think a good way to move Paul without using any picks would be to take back a bit more money.
To make that possible we would have to trade Roberson, Adams, Schröder and/or Gallinari. Because they all are, in different magnitude, potential contributors, we might have to take on less contributing players with smaller salaries (e.g. Felicio, Wiggins,...).

yes. something like:
miami sends: dragic, johnson, waiters or olynyk, derrick jones
miami receives: paul, roberson
okc sends: paul, roberson, a pick
okc receives: dragic, johnson, derrick jones
dal sends: nothing
dal receives: waiters or olynyk, a pick
miami gets a cap neutral deal for chris paul while also deleting two 2020-21 salaries, okc clears westbrook while getting under the tax this year and only taking on 16m next year for johnson, and dallas gets a pick for helping.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
Winning a title is overrated (I'm kidding) but let's not understated the fact that we had such a great decade as a franchise, with 2 players winning MVPs, another having a MVP year, 4 WCF trips, one final.
Those last 3 years of losing in the first round just showed how great our team was before that and how much we enjoyed watching our guys (Durant/Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka). Not many teams had the same luck.
Now it's time to suffer for some years with the hope to bounce back stronger and that this franchise will learn from his past mistakes.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
I think the deal will look something like this. I threw in the Heat's 2025 first, because giving them CP3 taking pack more salary and taking Johnson off of their hands. But, I could see a deal like this w/ no picks involved.
