Unrestricted agency needs to be redone. It's killing small market franchises.

The players will never let that happen. The only way to curb it is going to be allowing teams that signed guys to their first contracts to pay then exorbitant amounts of money. In which case a team like Indy is stuck asking themselves if it's worth paying a mediocre all star 300 million dollars.

I've wondered about the possibility of giving the team that lost their UFA some kind of compensating value. If Durant chooses to go to Golden State and they renounce the rights to Harrison Barnes, could OKC get those rights? I know that wouldn't work in many situations and ownership could also exploit that to run players off. It just sucks.

Everyone can blame the Harden trade but before last year OKC was considered one of the more elite franchises. When you do things the right way and get hosed, it's not fair. Then again what If Durant had been drafted by Vlade and never even had a chance to sniff the playoffs. That isn't fair either. I dont know the answer but I don't like what's happening now.

I've always liked the idea of players that were drafted by a team were not counted for the tax bill. They still count for salary cap purposes so if you drafted 4 guys that were eventually max players, i.e. kd, Russ, Ibaka and Harden you couldn't use the MLE because you'd be over the apron, etc. However, when it can tax bill time those players didn't count so you weren't punished for drafting well. That would only apply to players that had only ever signed with your team. So unlike the designated player contracts Harden wouldn't qualify for Houston. However, GS could have kept Klay, Curry, Barnes and Draymond on max contracts without being tax payers.

It would allow small market teams to have their super teams IF they could draft them. It would continue to tax the hell out of teams like LAL and NY who try to trade for and sign max players instead of drafting and developing them.

All this Cleveland drama.

Read on Twitter

If West hadn't signed on with the Clippers I'd give the Spurs a better shot at CP3, but surprised Pau is willing to do this regardless.

Howard on the move now? These aren't exactly tier one guys, but they are pretty big names to already be on the move. This offaeason is going to be a wild ride.

You're telling me. I'm strapping on my helmet right now.

Per Smitty, all 30 teams are talking (in places where he's hearing it). It's gonna be lit. 2015 trade deadline all over again.

Today kind of killed all of the trade momentum.

Everything's going to break loose at the draft. Teams are waiting to see who's still there.

Millsap would be a nice target. Don't know how many teams will give up assets for him at his age.

Just Being engaged in talks is at least something. No chance we get him, but now I can dream.

Ah, Porzingis. Well, you know - once news of talks "in process" breaks, we're out.
