But I can already say that Shai is going to be a max player and will lead our team to the 2026 NBA championship!

For sure. But projection is part of the game. Right now we know he has below average height for his position with a wingspan that is below average for his height. We know his best skill is his shooting and he shot a pretty average 35% from 3 in college (although he shot an elite 95% from the line) which suggests he will have problems creating his own shot. I don't see point guard skills and I don't see him being able to guard his position. Seems like a poor man's Malik Monk.

Ouch. Don't say this to the Miami fans or they will ban you :)

Heh. I had a couple posts over there, but I was on my best behavior.

This isn't super surprising to me. The more I've thought about this today, the more it seems like a problem that the Heat are the only team that is in the market for Paul. Given that the Heat showed discipline with the Westbrook situation, why wouldn't Riley do the same here?

If you were Miami and knew you were the only buyer, what would you accept in trade?

I still don't know why Presi didn't wait to make a 3 team deal before moving Westbrook.

My assumption would be that the Heat understood they'd be the only buyers for Paul and knew they'd gain a ton of leverage by not being involved in a 3 team deal.

offloading 2x 2020-21 salaries and getting at least one of their 1sts back seems fair. i don't know that chris paul will be traded to miami or not but i'm confident he will be traded.

If you're miami, would you accept "fair" if you didn't have to?

What other suitors are there? If you're not dealing with a team that needs Paul, doesn't that mean you have to up your offer?

What's the max you'd offer in a Paul trade?

that's a lot. 2 scrubs + 1 first round pick to get a player that will allow them to reach another level? They are winning this deal EASILY.
Only bad thing is to pay CP3 one more year.

I mean...at one point or they want CP3 or they are just after the assets to take on CP3's contract.
CP3 can't blame OKC for not trying if Miami doesn't really want him.

I don’t think Miami is the only suitor. I could see Orlando and Minnesota having interest. San Antonio and Dallas could be dark horse suitors. The outcry of fans on message boards to any proposed trade doesn’t necessarily represent what a front office is thinking.

Come on Blake Griffin, make a phone call and say that you learned a lot playing with CP3. You guys can be friends again!

That's true, for sure.

San Antonio isn't dumb enough to do it in my opinion. Just too out of character. Dallas is dumb enough to do it, but the timeline is off with Porzingis and Luka, plus I don't see them wanting to take the ball out of Luka's hands. Orlando was said to not be interested in Westbrook (although who really knows). They didn't have a better offer than Houston for sure, which wasn't a great return, so I can't imagine why they'd want to put a competitive offer in for Paul.

Minny? They have a history of incompetence, so maybe, I guess.

I know this isn't going to end well but, why ''this is OKC trying to move Paul, not Heat actively pursuing player'' ? Miami wants more CP3 than we want to get rid of him.

Dallas just signed 2 point guards. San Antonio? Don't know. Pop loves some mid range shooting.

we asked the same questions about westbrook to miami. cp3 is going to be traded. i'd be shocked if he wasn't. it might cost a pick or picks to trade him. even if it costs two 1sts we're still in good shape.
