Basically traded Melo and (likely) two second round picks for two years of Schroder, a late first, and a ton of cap relief. Not bad.

Sam has his warts but his ability to rehab players is unmatched. Even though it didn’t work with Melo, it was an amicable situation that could have gotten worse with other front offices.

I could not agree more. Green is nothing at this point. Dennis is a near 20ppg guy off the bench. For #28? That is it?

No offense to CP3 but I preferred watching Dennis last season especially in the playoffs. Good deal for the Lakers.

Lots of others on the trade board seem to be convinced green will return some kind of asset. We’ll see.

Even if they can’t find a taker for Green, he could start the season as the starting 3 for this team. They can restore his value and move him @ the deadline.

Let’s see what Sam gets for Green before we start grading this deal.

Is the trade official? Maybe it's not just green and the 28, maybe they're negotiating for another pick 2022 or 2021, or Kuzma, or THT

or maybe a CP3/LeBron James swap

That's it. One late FRP for Schroeder. We can hope to get something for Green (now or middle season) but won't be a lot...

For what? Lowered pick protections?

Mostly for my sanity and not having to watch him become a bum after 30 games. I'd make that trade 10 times out of 10.

More realistically, as part of a 3 team deal with russ being traded. Minor asset and some cap relief is all I'd ask. That's Assuming harden isn't being traded too though.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

What would be the point of cap relief this year? They aren't trying to win, so signing someone decent isn't really helpful. And if you don't think he contributes to winning, him being around is a positive this year.

Lots of speculation that Adams will be the next collision and be a thunder for life. I wouldn’t mind keeping him for the last year especially if we draft a center. I think he could be a good mentor for the next guy.

Reading the Phx board is great example of the five stages of grief. Right now the page is hot with anger for Presti’s apparent greed from a couple of shady Twitter rumors. I love this place.

You know you have a pretty decent GM when the opposing fanbase loathes them. :)

FWIW I like the Schroeder trade. Seems good for both teams and I think Green can be flipped for value later.

Anyone else think this makes a CP3 trade more attractive for other teams? I know the salary matching is harder but I think that teams like PHI, MIL, or other "win-now" teams might like adding Green with CP3.

I don't see how it can hurt us. The lakers weren't a realistic option for CP3 so having Dennis gone is one more option off the market for the other teams.

Patrick McCaw, Stanley Johnson and the legal troubles of Terrence Davis for Green. Saves the Thunder 5ish million this season. If Davis stops beating up his wife and the charges go away, it's a steal for you guys.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Yikes. Presti is all about rehabbing player value but he might wait on this type of move to see how it plays out.

What do you expect Gallo to command on the open market?

I think he'll be lucky to get more than MLE, especially without a sign and trade.

I believe this is correct. Johnson holds so much more value to the Suns than their 2025 FRP does. & the Thunder value their 2025 FRP more than the they value Johnson. So yes I do agree.

Presti has the Knick and Suns in a battle over the 35 year old max player. Presti is doing what Presti does best.

By this time next week the Thunder would have added about 3 future FRP, some pick swaps, a couple of FRP's and some bad expiring contracts.

2027 picks can be dealt on Friday. I would expect the Thunder to get their hands on one of them.

I think he gets more than that. I think a S&T is a possibility. The Heat don't make sense unless they can sign him and have enough room to sing a max guy.

If they can get that done I wonder if the Thunder could squeeze a FRP out of the Heat.

My guess would be lowered pick protections.

The two the Thunder own become unprotected. So I think I would need an additional one, that also becomes unprotected. because if not why bother with it.
