the best thing about the triple doubles is definitely how mature giddey is at playmaking.
not enough teenagers in history could run a NBA offense (kinda) like giddey, which is nice

slick_watts wrote:the triple double stuff is annoying, to me. it just becomes the narrative of josh giddey and overwhelms any sane conversation about his game. giddey's night wouldn't have been any different if he hadn't secured that last defensive rebound. but the triple double is all that anyone cares about once it happens, even though achieving one doesn't have any additional practical ramifications.
giddey is putting up 16/9/8 on ~53% ts in the 13 games he's played that shai has missed and that's impressive. but he's also shooting 40% on floaters for the year (1/4 of his shot attempts) and 40% eFG from three on the year (1/3 of his shot attempts), and that should get some attention, also.
one of the blue checkmark thunder guys on twitter mentioned they would take their life for josh giddey to get another rebound for the triple double. i mean, i get being a fan and all. but it's so cloyingly over the top. i honestly think a lot of fans prefer the state of the team now versus when it was at its peak competitiveness.
Every fan with common sense has some concern with Giddey’s shooting. I think every rookie in the top five has shown they have room to grow when it comes to shooting. Green and Cunningham have been been underwhelming from three. Those guys were supposed to be good shooters too. Suggs and Mobley are actually shooting worse from three than Giddey. I don’t like Giddey’s mechanics but I like his intelligence. Let’s be honest. Who do you have more confidence improving their shot? A young Westbrook or a young Giddey?

the only rookie who I thought was a better passer/ better court vision was Rubio. He was/is a generational passer. Giddey is a notch below that but I also believe he will be a much better scorer than Ricky.
my comp is still a better scoring, worse defending JKidd.

I repeat it : Josh Giddey will be a very great part of Thunder future. Perhaps more than SGA. The guy is " N I N E T E E N " years old. After all those Westbrook years, I'm so happy to have a rising star with such a basketball IQ. He wears also the right number as CP3.

Good trade by my estimation. Anytime you can replace Jr. with a II, though functionally the same, a FRP and some Roman numerals are a nice thing to see.
Basketball wise - Frazier hasn't been my favourite player to watch in the Gleague games. Seems a bit dis-interested, a bit out of control, or not moving at all.

Nothing wrong with doing this but to come out and acknowledge it after shai’s first game back is pretty bold. Regardless of who the lead ball handler is, this team isn’t winning anything any time soon. I’m not feeling great about shai’s long term future in okc at the moment.

No idea if we should keep or trade SGA but Presti needs to make a decision ASAP. He's struggling this season but I doubt he lost that much trade value and a pretty good number of teams could spend nice value to get him.

So bad to beat the Pacers...
I was wrong about Mann. He just needed some confidence. He's really really good. Still a rookie so hope he can be close to an average defender.

One of Shai and Dort has to be traded eventually - you can't have three wings playing 30+ minutes if none of them are great shooters.
As for Mann, I think he has real potential to be a Jordan Clarkson/Anfernee Simons type scoring weapon as part of a second unit.

After giving it some thought, I prefer to give the SGA/Giddey experiment every chance to succeed before moving on. There isn’t any reason to think Shai won’t get better and have a bounce back season.

I think that's still the best solution if SGA is willing to stay. I wouldn't trade Shai for the 2022 first pick (even if I badly want that pick ) and I doubt we could get more value in return.
Shai and Giddey played around 40 games together and they are both smart enough to adjust. Don't like the fit that much but if we surround them with shooters that don't need the ball in their hands that much, it should work.

Giddey wants to win a championship with us while Bazley wants to be the best rapper in the NBA

We have the rest of the season to see if PG-Giddey and SG-Shai can carry an offense. Gotta get those two on the court as much as possible with Giddey running the show.
We can't forget about the 2023 draft. What we see the rest of this season determines how we position ourselves for that draft.
Also want to go on record as a huge Mann fan. I think he's going to be awesome for us.

I like our team better when Muscala, Kenrich and Jerome are out. I like Kenrich and Muscala but just don't care about them playing good basketball. I may be the biggest Jerome hater here (he gives me some Felton vibes) but think Maledon has more potential to become a decent back up PG.
Shai playing so well since he came back from his injury..just some stupid turnovers but his passing skill improved and he's more efficient as well.
