Sigh :nonono:
I hate this adjustment period crap. I want to just skip ahead to the team being good. The offense looks like garbage and the defense is random. It has flashes of brilliance and stretches of being mentally handicapped. At least they played better than against Utah, but how do you play worse than that game anyhow.

I have a sinking feeling that starting all three together isn't going to work. Either 1. You have to pull pg or melo out really early or...
2. You move melo to the bench. I don't think this coaching staff is savvy enough to find a balance with all three together. The offense always looks better when either just 1 or 2 of the three are on the floor together. If it's going to work they need to enforce a pecking order fast and stick to it.

This ad-hoc offense will not get it done when it counts. People like Zach Lowe were right when they talked about potential issues. He liked it better when it was just a two headed monster. My turn, your turn is already difficult to balance. How the hell do you balance my turn, your turn, and his turn? It's like playing chess with 3 players :banghead:

they have a right to gloat.

Is Ryan Anderson still on the table?

Melo needs to be relegated to the Serge Ibaka role offensively, get his shots within the flow of the offense and only freelance at the end of the shotclock or on the 4-5 possessions we explicitly call his number. Use those extra possessions to run some goddam pick and roll, and they to get George some looks moving towards the basket.

Over the last two games, we have been at our best with Russ off the floor (+48 NetRtG with Russ off) and at our worst with Melo off the floor (-30 NetRtG).

Russ' On/Off NetRtG over the last two games is - 70.

And Melo played with our (garbage) second unit way more minutes.

Gotta figure Patterson just isn't in shape. He was promised a starting role, so there's no way he just suddenly slid all the way down the depth chart.

I felt like Huestis played pretty well tonight. I don't think putting him in a rotation hurts you anymoreso than most 10th men.

We need Patterson healthy and another good defensive 4/5 preferably that can protect the rim. Melo should get some minutes at the three. He is rarely using his quickness advantage against fours so have him take those iso long twos against smaller guys.

Second unit was pretty good both nights. They cut the lead.

Patterson will have a bigger role. Donovan is not THAT stupid. He just played his first minutes of the year this week.

Patterson should allow us to play a lot of different line ups (including him at the 4 and Melo at the 3)

After adding two "superstars" it's pretty clear we are still a serge Ibaka away from contention. Anyone have a spare one in their pockets?

Right now we are shooting 43% from the field, 32% from deep and 66% from the ft line. No reason for those numbers to keep that low. We may have not developed a good offensive system but we missed so many open shots since opening night.

Not developing a good offensive system and missing shots are not exclusive. Wide open or not, when there is not flow to the offense it hurts everyone.

So yeah, like I said...is this the first time we’ve heard about this or did I just miss it? This explains a lot.

I was excited when we got mellow, but I think most of us assumed that he was coming with the understanding that he would be a third option. His usage feels like it's a million percent at this point. somehow they've got to get through to him that he is allowed to pass the ball and actually move off the ball rather than just get in position to try and post guys up from 15 to 18 ft.

Eh, those numbers will go up offensive system or not. Russ has missed a bunch of freethrows inexplicably.
