They were as deep into the tax as they were willing to go. They aren't chasing championships. They are apparently at the financial level where they can break even with a first round playoff loss.

Its still money but it's tax free money.

They believe Roberson will be back

Yeah. I feel like I still have to say no. We need another wing though.

Guess OKC really tried to get him. Don't get why he didn't want to come here (great fit in my opinion) but whatever...

Odd. It’s not like Indianapolis is leaps and bounds better than OKC. I guess he wants playing time.

Think he could play almost as many minutes with OKC. Maybe he's already looking at his new contract (Pacers could offer him something if he's playing well with them)

Do you get birdrights on these contracts? I don't think so...

How about Jeremy Lin?
Or even Enes Kanter? I think at times he'd be better than Patterson tbh
Wayne Ellington would've been such a nice pickup

Probably not otherwise we would have maxed Brewer.

Can't play Kanter.

Lin would be nice but he's looking for a starting role.

Kanter? No thanks. Kanter and Patterson aren’t really interchangebale. Ellington would have been nice. We don’t really offer Lin what he wants.

Lin said he’s going to let his agent handle the potential buyout conversations. And in what could be a way to deflect giving a direct answer, he said he wasn’t aware of any talks between his agent and the organization in terms of a potential buyout. “Until I hear otherwise, I’m committed,” Lin said. “I’m here every day, and I think we’ve been playing good. I think in the last 25 games, we’re 12-13. We’re building something. I just want to stay healthy and enjoy the game, and I’ll let my agents do their work.”

If Lin’s representation can find a team that is willing to play him more than the time he’s getting now from the Hawks, he’ll likely request a buyout. Lin has been adamant that coming off the bench isn’t his preferred role, and it never will be. That’s just his competitive nature. “I’m going to try to do my best, though, with whatever assignment I have,” he said. “It doesn’t mean I don’t have aspirations to be a starter or to get heavy minutes or even to come off the bench and play more or be more involved. Those are all very real thoughts.”

Don't think OKC is willing to give Lin more minutes because of Dennis ''6MOY'' Schroeder

Yeah we shouldn't give him Dennis minutes obviously since he's vastly superior to Lin, but he can take some of those minutes currently going to Nader/Burton

Lin isn't really an effective off ball player or an elite shooter, so not sure how he would make much sense with Schroder already here.

Indiana makes a lot of sense for Matthews - he'll be after another decent contract and Oladipo's injury means there are shots to be had. East is pretty open too.

Really there isn't a huge amount available in terms of finding a bench shooter - Meeks, Afflalo, Teletovic, hell even Brandon Rush probably the best of the bunch.

It is because no one wants to play with Russ the ball hog.

What do you meany by open? We aren't sure who is coming out of it? Okay. It is weaker than the West at the top? Not right now. I'd say four of the top 6 teams are in the East with Toronto, Philly, Milwaukee and Boston. I think Philly comes out of the East and gives GS a real series in the Finals. Even if you don't think Boston is that good the East at least has 3 of the top 5/6.

It is also possible that the East becomes the power conference again after this off-season. If kd were to go to NY that would drastically shift things. Not because it would make NY a contender, but because of what losing kd and Cousins would mean for GS and the West.

I mean unless I was signing for Golden State, I'd fancy my chances at the finals in the East more without LeBron there.

Indiana makes a lot of sense for him. There will be shots and minutes there without Oladipo, they are well-coached and well-run, and a number of teams could potentially come out of the East.
