Hope Presti had a good night of sleep because yesterday wasn't his best day as a GM

Are the Thunder looking to make the playoffs again or trying to tank?

They trade away Paul but would try to keep Gallo?

Yeah not even sure Gs would offer their own pick

But that's what Presti should be asking for

That’s assuming they aren’t sending back Wiggins and are using the tpe like woj said. That also gives us more flexibility for your coveted Gallo s&t.

Somehow I would prefer to get wiggins and a nice package.

Tank

Gallo is gone.

We will need to play Al horford and Adams but that's it.

I really don’t know what you’re talking about. What happened that you think is so bad?

Nothing THAT bad. He just didn't optimize the most value from both trades in my opinion. The Horford trade was ok but OKC had more leverage. Same here with Gs in big trouble and Oubre would fix a lot of issues for them.

Minny trade was not crazy bad but he basically took an huge gamble on Poku and Minny took profit of it.

By the way, still think the Horford trade was fine. Just think Presti had leverage to get just a bit more.

The CP3/Schroeder trades were better in terms of value.

The horford trade got us a frp and an early second. With that second round pick we were able to draft a guy that a lot of experts had in the first round. Also the protections on the pick and light. Yes we took back money but that’s the cost of acquiring assets. Even before this trade I thought horford was a great rehab project. The true value of this trade isn’t known yet but as it stands now, I think it’s pretty good.

We don’t know all of the details on the warriors trade yet.

Presti saved the last year of Rubios salary and moved up in the draft. So instead of having 25 and 28 we have 17 and 34. Up 8 spots and down 6 while saving money. Also, if the front office got the guy they wanted, that’s worth something. That’s the point in having assets, not to draft every one but maneuver where we want to. Dallas tried very hard to move up last night but couldn’t because they lack the assets.

yeah I totally agree with the idea. Maybe I'm just too skeptical about Poku but I hope I'm wrong.

Also not sure Horford in OKC will work like it did with CP3...

I'm fine with Presti gambling though

I’m not sold on Poku either but I’m sold on the idea of taking the risk. If he busts it isn’t the end of the rebuild. I’m not sure who else we would have gotten at 17 that had a much higher upside. The next two years are much more critical in the draft.

Horford probably doesn’t want to be here but I don’t see him causing problems.

If GSW isn't sending any player/money back, the best scenario would be a heavy protected FRP

I know Horford isn't involved but he would be a great fit in Gs as well.

i'd agree with this. sam didn't optimize value. he clearly wanted poku and made a sub-optimal trade to move up and get him. the al horford trade seems like a rehab risk along the lines of schroder, but at a higher cost. sam said in his presser that risks should be taken and i agree with that in principle. but it seemed like he was locked on to particular results.

i'd feel a lot better about the horford trade if we trade adams. or flip horford. maybe horford for batum or something.

Let’s say Deni was there at 17. Would you feel the same way? Is the value you think he got swayed by what you project the pick to become?

there's a difference between moving up to take a player who's falling than moving up to take a player who you fear is rising. i haven't been too thrilled with sam presti's picks when he has someone in his sights, particularly when he moves up for them.

Long talks here.

Any way OKC sending a weak FRP to get the Minny pick?

I disagree with the first statement. It comes down to how good of a player/prospect he believes he getting. Regardless if Poku becomes Ironman version of Porzingis or never sees the floor, part of the point of acquiring so many assets is to ensure we get the guys we want. If value is the deciding factor in every decision then Presti becomes like almost-got’em Ainge. However he’s not in a market to bail him out with free agent signings.

I also don’t think he reached for Poku. Most mock drafts showed him going before 25 with interest coming from Dallas.
