the disconnect here is whether or not harden was better last year. you're not going to convince the average rockets fan, it's too close. and the whole argument was based on wins. operating from that assumption, the reasoning is consistent. they're just wrong that harden was better last year, and wrong to read into team wins and losses this way.

That said the Dubs fans are just weird about it bit I assume that's from the Durant stuff.

But outside of the triple double average/triple double record and game winners, Westbrook was ahead Harden in almost every stats category (which wasn't the case for D.Rose)

i honestly don't begrudge rockets fans too much for preferring harden over westbrook last year. i wouldn't. i don't think it's objectively supported by any evidence. but the wins thing is an nba fan mvp vote trope so meh. you're asking a lot from a fanbase, here.

Who cares? Its over and done with. Russell was the MVP. In fact, they beat the Rockets in the playoffs when he was on the floor. They lost when he came off. They have no leg to stand on, especially considering Hardens crapesque performance against the Spurs. Rockets fans have literally no leg to stand on here. Now, if he wins this year, it is what it is. Trying to retroactively award it to Harden, is funny and irrational.

For an award that a lot of people last year claimed was irrelevant, there sure are a lot of people who still care about it.

I have literally never seen Melo miss so many wide open shots. These last couple of games he has missed a number of just wide open shots. Last night was the worst but he has been just missing wide open shots. Usually when he goes through offensive struggles it is because he is forcing shots over multiple defenders, playing hero ball or full on chuck from any place. For the most part those were all good shots and he missed a ton of wide open shots. You can like or hate him but he usually doesn't miss that many open shots.
