IT rates out as the worst defensive player in the NBA by DRPM. Russ would be a HUGE upgrade. Not to mention that they would actually get a very big return making it a 3 team trade sending IT to a team for prospects and picks to go to OKC.
Something like Boston getting Russ and Adams. Philly getting IT and Oladipo. OKC getting Noel, Brown, Saric, Rozier, 2017 Brooklyn first, 2018 Brooklyn first, 2017 Philly 1st, 2017 LAL first and 2019 Sacramento first plus salary filler like Zeller, Amir Johnson, Sean Rodriguez and Jerebko would work.
OKC has at least two very good picks this year with Brooklyn and Philly and possibly the LAL pick, although LAL might end up being a top 5 next year. The Brooklyn pick will again be probable for #1 next season. OKC's pick in 2018 would also probably be in the top 5. So between two drafts Presti would most likely have four top 5 picks and another in the top 8.
Philly does it because IT and Oladipo give them the missing PG and SG they needed to round out their lineup with Simmons at SF and Embiid at center. They are betting on Embiid and Simmons being their superstars and IT as your 3rd best player makes you a very good team. Boston is a contender with Russ, Bradley, Crowder, Horford and Adams as their starting 5 while still having Smart and Olynyk off the bench. OKC starts their rebuild with some young pieces and why none of them look to be future starts they should have 5 shots at landing a "big 3" in the draft to go with a great collection of role players including Noel, Brown, Abrines, Sabonis, Saric and Rozier/Payne. They have a defensive center, wing depth, a solid big prospect and their backup PG long-term on the roster and with some combination of Fultz, Ball, Monk, Jackson and Isaac out of this draft along with OKC's own pick which could be Kurucs, Harkenstein, Jeanne or some other draft and stash with big upside. Then next draft adding some combination of Porter, Ayton, Carter, Bamba, Knox, etc. OKC will be loaded with potential as they grow over the next few years with a team that should be hitting it's stride right as GS, Boston and Cleveland start to fall off.
