There is no money in the FA market this year which mean S&T are going to be the way to go. Gallo is a top 10 FA. If a team could sign him to a 3 year $50 million deal they would probably be willing to give up at least a 25' FRP.

I agree it is short sited to just look at these playoffs. But, it is also short sighted for Galo to sign a one year deal with a non guaranteed year in the 2nd year of the deal, and I also think OKC can take the risk on this one and let him hit FA.

The change in protections brings zero value to the floor since that pick becomes unprotected in 26'.

I really think Herro has to be in this deal for it to make sense to the Thunder.

I just don't see the value in moving protection on these picks. 23' lottery protected for 3 years, that moves to unprotected is fine with the Thunder. Plus if the pick in 2023 is the 15th overall pick the removed protections were for nothing. Even if we get a 25' unprotected pick and they change the protections on the 23' pick to unprotected, that's still only a 25' FRP. I think that can easily be had on the open market in the off season.

If Herro isn't in this deal then I just don't see the value (in trading Gallo now) in only adding one FRP in 25' while we are the 6th seed and trying to win a playoff series.

There has to be a young player involved for this to happen. We aren't taking their trash just because he's expiring. Miami fans are delusional about this. Presti doesn't have to make a move at all.

Don't think so. If Woj wrote about the 2023 protection pick, it's because the deal is about the draft picks. It's not like we could get a good young prospect and Miami to remove protection...

If so, why wouldn't we tank earlier? We just wasted a half a season having a good team. I'm okay with rebuilding, but why wouldn't we do it earlier, and if you take this trade, then others should be moved too.

It takes two teams to make a deal. Other teams aren’t always willing to give their best offer in November. This follows what presti told fans would happen. We aren’t rebuilding because we haven’t torn it down yet. It takes a some time.

Shams just reported Hill & Crowder to Miami. Wonder if this means they stay there.

My twitter feed appears to think so. I thought it meant they were coming along to OKC. We'll see.

& Waiters to Memphis. The last part of the deal is Johnson to Memphis that has yet to be reported. The reporting on this deal has been sooooo weird.

woj just reported its gonna be a 2 team deal and they will continue to try to make it a 3 team deal.

Sounds like it’s falling apart.

Given that Gallo could be looking at his last big deal and Miami isn't exactly a sure thing for a ring, and given that Miami wants cap space in 2021, it would make sense if it didn't happen.

It seems that Presti is asking for one of MIa's young players besides the picks. I'm guessing it's Nunn

Negotiating with Miami seems like a waste of time. Same with Boston.

Maybe no agreement with Gallo's staff and that changed what Miami was willing to give? Don't know...

Potential trades with Miami are doomed to fail. Well I hope Presti won't reduce his asking price.

He won't

There is no point to dealing Gallo for literally nothing of substance, might as well rack in some extra money for a possible second round spot in the playoffs and see if he can work a S&T in the summer, or shock the world and re-sign him for two years

I'm enjoying this because I'm cool with either outcome
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
