Kenneth Lofton is gonna be a great undrafted story. Awesome passer in addition to his scoring package. Not sure he sticks longterm w Memphis but think he earns a 2nd contract

These kids are so young, they have great games that make them look like superstars and bad games that will leave you scratching your head. The massive overreactions to summer league happens every year.

I thought Lofton Jr beat up Chet pretty good. Luckily there aren't many guys pushing 300 pounds in the NBA that are good scorers. He needs to get stronger no doubt.

Should we start putting him on the weakest of the 2 bigs until he gets a little stronger? It will let him roam the paint more, sort of like how the Cavs use Mobley.

well i don't know about that. chet looked really exhausted on court, probably going to get used to NBA pace in the run, but to be fair there's no way you can critically look at this game and say MEM's strat with Lofton Jr worked. sure he did score a bunch, but his team was being outscored as they blackholed themselves. +/- is brutal at this sample size.

I thought he looked like a fringe roster/end of bench guy. Summer league superstar no doubt. That environment is perfect for a dude like that. His limitations will be a lot more obvious against NBA rotation players.

These guys like that that don't really have a role always look terrible in Summer league unless they just happen to torch it from three or something. He's going to have to figure out what he is. Probably spend a few d league assignments between now and then.

Lineup I'd love to see next year--

Giddey/Shai/Jalen/Kenrich/Chet

Just been thinking about this one tonight. So much balance and BBIQ

Yeah add a few more NBA level players around Chet and Giddey and Lofton gets played off the floor defensively.

Replace Jalen with Dort and that’s what I’d imagine the starting 5 will be.

I’d imagine Jalen will be coming off the bench to begin with and sharing some time on the court with the starters as well so he can get reps as the main ball handler and playing off the ball.

Jalen is a NBA player.

Crazy that we drafted one of the most NBA ready player in Jalen and the biggest project after Sharpe in Dieng. Feel like Presti knows that everything can happen and he's playing the short and long game at the same time...no clue if it's going to work.

If Chet is our Mobley, who is our Jarrett Allen? Personally I like this idea but we don’t really have the right pairing for Chet. Realistically it’s going to take Chet at least two years to make significant progress with his body. It doesn’t mean he won’t be a good player before then but the mismatch issues aren’t going away after one offseason.

I can see Chet being a Center 80% of the time and having to play at the 4 in some mismatches, which shouldn't be a big problem if he becomes that good. I think a Chet/Duren duo would have been great but it was probably too early to care about fit and we can get an elite back up big on the trade market.

We need to draft an elite PF. Chet/?/SGA/Giddey/Williams is pretty exciting to me.

I do think we're going to have to be careful with how we use Chet. I'm not sure letting him get obliterated by some dude just intent on putting a shoulder through Chet's chest every time down the floor is particularly helpful to his confidence. I think JRE might have done a better job on Lofton than Chet did.

I don't think confidence is an issue when we are talking Chet, so I don't mind about that. Could be an issue physically though. I don't mind not drafting a big if the goal is to play Chet at the 5 but starting a guy like JRE during regular season is a bit of a waste to me (drafting Duren instead of Dieng was a no brainer to me but oh well :banghead: ).

I missed the last two games, but plan to at least catch the 2nd half this evening. Has Jaylin Williams stood out at all?

Not really. The other Jalen Williams has been great.
