Just remembered Poku is playing summer league this year. Please, oh please, have Chet and Poku work on the pick and roll. Please, Sam. Please.
Please start dieng, Poku, and chet 3-5. It’ll be so weird and I need it in my life. I wanna see. I wanna see!!!

Even their numbers are vaguely similar. I’m just going with “front braid” and “no front braid” for now.

Williams is weird in that he has a 7’3 wingspan, a 38 inch vertical, and has decent height, but he doesn’t have explosiveness to his game. Looks very James harden-ish in terms of the speed of his play.

KOC is a huge OKC/Presti believer...he sees superstar potential in Giddey too.
A lot of draft experts prettty divided on Dieng/Williams which is fine I guess. Time will tell.

If Chet starts they will probably start Kenrich or JRE with him, Dort, Giddey & SGA.

I think Jake was speaking about the Summer league
Chet/Poku/Jalen Williams/Giddey/Mann could be a lot of fun.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
The more I think about the Dieng pick, the less I get it.
I also don't understand it fit wise and the more we draft, the less likely I think SGA is a long term plan to our team (or at least Presti doesn't take it for granted)

the only player on the roster i think matters to presti is chet. everything else is fluid.

I would add Giddey

In theory all of SGA/Giddey/Chet/Dieng future position is to be decided with majority of them potentially still growing either size wise or bulk up wise.
SGA could be PG/SG
Giddey could be SG/SF/PF
Chet is PF/C
Dieng could be SF/PF .

I'm excited and hopeful about all of these guys. Dieng may bust but if he succeeds, I could definitely see it taking a couple of years. Jalen Williams is guy that I am feeling really good about.

I had some players higher than him (Hardy, Procida, Liddell) but I like the Jaylin pick as another high floor low ceiling guy. I think he has a slightly better chance than JRE to become a useful bench player. He's a great guy and hard worker.

Center position is a good position to find value in the early part of the second round. I don't really have expectations for many 2RPs but perhaps his archetype will pair well with chet.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
Looking back over the draft I have some thoughts-
Houston did really well. Houston has a lot more young defensive potential than a lot of people realize. Don't forget about Garuba.
Detroit got really good value. However if I'm not as high as others due to the Troy Weaver athlete-fetish. That being said, Cade can make a lot of that go away.
San Antonio had a really good draft. I'm not sure they got the superstar they need but found very good talent for where they picked.
Portland either needs to move Sharpe or hope he's much more NBA ready than we think. A lot of people like the pick. I didn't'. But to be fair, not sure what they were supposed to do if they didn't have a trade arranged.
Cleveland- Agbaji is the kind of pick they need at this stage.
Memphis- David Dadbod Roddy just feels like a memphis guy.
Kings- Easy to make fun of them but I think they made the best decision based upon what we know.
New Orleans- Griffin has had so many move that are home runs followed by strike outs. That being said, if Zion is actually healthy I think they could be on the precipice of being a really good team. I like the Daniels pick a lot.
Pacers- I like Mathurin but if they could have gotten Ivey with a trade with the kings, it really feels like the missed a good opportunity.

I do agree with mostly everything you said. Houston kind of under the radar right now but with huge amount of talent. Green should play better next season and is still a GREAT prospect. Jabari can end up being the best player of this draft (I hope not) but he's gonna help them from both sides of the floor for sure. I also still like Sengun a lot.
I didn't want Eason at all because he would be a reach at 12 and didn't like the fit for us but at 17 it's nice value and he's a better fit in Houston. Tyty Washington at 29 is also a great value pick.
I think OKC and Houston are very close talent wise. OKC still a bit above because of SGA but will depend on how Chet/Jabari/Green develop.
I thought Portland was all in with Dame but maybe it's not really the case. I wonder if the Mike Schmitz hiring had some influence on keeping Sharpe. I hope they still trade him but doubt it will be to us
Don't love Agbaji but fit wise it makes sense for Cleveland...they are going to be very strong next season.
I don't have an opinion on the Kings pick because I don't know what others teams offered them for that pick. I do think they couldn't pick a guy that didn't want to go there and Murray fits better their wilingness to make the playoffs ASAP. Mistake was already made before in the Haliburton/Sabonis swap and they could have a Haliburton/Ivey duo by now but making another mistake at draft night would have been stupid.

If they just would have moved Fox instead of Haliburton and tried to get another young player...
As great as Sam is as a GM, it's OKC ownership that allows him succeed.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
I love the Dieng pick. The last time I saw someone move like that on a Thunder uniform was Kevin Durant.
Isn't at that level as an athlete (specially in quickness and lenght) nor polished as a finisher/shooter coming out but his spots, handling and off ball game are EXACTLY the same as KD coming out.
That guy is as true as a traditional sf as you can get and his defense alone secure him presence in rotations.
love. the. pick.
