Apparently OKC had the loudest playoff crowd ever

Post#1 » by fallacy » Fri Apr 23, 2010 5:04 am

Sager on TNT tonight said that their DB meter reached a level of 109 db. The next highest recorded playoff crowd was at 102db according to him.

Just for some refrence 109 db is a little louder than front row at a rock concert and a little less than a jet engine at 100'. 90db is the level where exposure can cause hearing loss.

Good job guys!

I was pissed I saw some non blue shirts. They must have been Laker fans or non Thunder fans.

I could of sworn that Sager said last nite was the loudest in Ford Center history. I know when the Warriors faced the Mavs in the playoffsa few years back, the Oracle was just as loud if not louder. Their fan base is just as loud as the Thunder's.

Just wanted to give props to ever body who went to the game and made it so loud. Atmosphere was great and I'm sure it came through on tv to the national audience

Yeah, the crowd was ridiculous. OKC's been getting compliments on the crowd since the Hornets were in town.

Oklahoma is one of the fattest states -- maybe some just didn't fit.

It was loud, but 109 decibels is nowhere close to the loudest playoff crowd ever. Craig Sager said it was the loudest in Ford Center history. ARCO arena and Key Arena are two places that have had significaly louder crowds, exceeding 120 decibels at times.

Kings fan here.

Congrats to your team. I'm loving every moment that you spank the lakers. You guys are young, hungry, talented, and will be one of the best teams in the league for the next 10 years. There is no doubt about that. Hopefully our Kings can rise just how OKC rose the past couple of years and we can battle it out with two intense crowds.

Not taking anything away from your crowd, which was effen LOUD, but ARCO arena actually holds the record for 130 decibels in 2006 when guiness world records visited. And thats not even counting what was occuring against the Lakers in 2002 where people's ears would be ringing for days after the game.

Either way...BEAT L.A.!

And a Blazer fan here.

I woke up this morning with loudly ringing ears after game 4 yesterday. I have no clue what the decibel rating was, I rate loudness in comparison to Ducks games at Autzen Stadium. I was at a game where it was recorded at 127.2 decibels. The Rose Garden wasn't THAT loud yesterday, but it got pretty noisy. In cities like OKC and Portland and Utah and a few other places like Sac-town back in the day you will see how the crowd noise effects the game. Keep up the good work!
