I don't understand Durant being #2...

He's the future, he's an amazing scorer, but he's not much of a defender at this point, he's a prolific scorer. Plus he's young as heck doesn't have to battle through adversity or injury, he just goes out there and guns and lets the chips fall where they may.

I don't really care where everyone else including my boy Kobe is slotted, but no question in my mind D12 is the runner up to LBJ.

All this being said OKC has a fantastic fan base, has the best young squad in the league, the loudest arena in the NBA and fantastic superstars that aren't punks, it's refreshing, but as far as MVP goes that's what I strongly believe. It just goes to show me that so many are influenced by offensive numbers. Durant reminds me so much of Melo, two near unstoppable scorers, but neither provides much more to their teams. Durant has so much upside, Melo on the other hand may never be anything more than a top three scorer in this league.

Durant's had a better year than Melo ever had scoring the ball... he's also played pretty good defense and is a top rebounder at his position.

He deserves it over Dwight because of the team's turnaround, most of which was due to him.

I disagree. I think we still make the playoffs with a average player in his shoes. The biggest turnaround was the defense.

We'd be worse than the Nets offensively without Durant, we're last in the West if he's gone...

You're kidding me right? In the tough Western conference with Durant we just made the 8th seed. Defenses are focused on him, making it easier for everyone else. If you take that away and replace him with someone of lesser quality, the team crumbles. He's a leader and sparks the team time and time again with big time plays. Who else would provide that if he's gone? Besides... whose would actually score if he wasn't there?

Great season for Durant, albeit you could argue a few cases for runner up in MVP voting (Nash, Howard both had very strong seasons), but at the end of the day it was the teams huge turnaround which led to his placing.
