The Thunder's two second round picks for Michael Beasley. The Heat failed to move Beasley to the Nets for Keyon Dooling. This move would free up enough money for the Heat to go after three prome tome Free Agents. Right now the Heat only have Beasley, Cook, Chalmers, and Hasbrouck on their roster. With this trade they would have 5 second round picks. With the three new Max free agents combined with Cook, Chalmers, Hasbrouck, and six draft picks (that gives them 12 players), they would be ready to start building a champion.
The Thunder take a waiver on Beasley for about 10 million and two second round picks.

Re: Would you Trade...
That would be an interesting move, but I'd probably pass.
At this moment, I'm only looking for two things. A PF/C shot blocker & rebounder with some decent post moves, and a versatile perimeter shooter that can squeeze minor minutes out of the 2, 3, and possibly 1.
Beasley isn't either.

No. I don't think Beasley has a spot here with Green on the team.

For two second round picks it's really tough to say no and I'm one of Weedsley's biggest critics.
Maybe the solid locker room could keep him in line?

Is it?
Which hard working, high character guy do you want to move to make room for Beasley?
The fact that Riley is willing to give Beasley away for a chance to move on should raise additional red flags not make previous ones disappear.
What's the best case scenario? A J.R. Smith type career?
I'd classify this in the, "some of the best moves a team makes is the trade that never is made" category.

Re: Would you Trade...
Beasley is a guy I wouldn't take over Green. He has documented off the court issues (a lot more than say, Cousins or a guy like Dalembert) and that's combined with his on the court issues (lazy at times, fragile psyche in my opinion).
He's definitely more talented than Jeff Green but this is a case where I wouldn't want him around the players we have, and I don't think it's worth the risk to 'rehabilitate' him.

I'd dot it. Low risk high reward. Don't know if they still are but KD and Beas were once real tight. So KD could help , him being with a team were he's not going to be the scapegoat or expected to be superman and a chnage of scenery would help Beas a lot. I also don't think any of the 2nd rounders are going to impact this team honestly . Very young roster who already has 2 1st rounders don't have room for 2 more pups. With everybody wanting Serge to start anyway bring Beas off the bench . Also with the promotion of Harden into the starting lineup (I hope) your going to need some scoring off the bench. You can also trade JG and package him with a 1st to try to upgrade the talent also.
Westbrook/Maynor
Harden/Thabo
KD/Beas
Ibaka/Collison
Kristic/Mullens
Then whatever you get with trading JG and the other 1st rounder

Well there are 12 guys currently on the roster. The NBA allows you to carry 15 players.
Two 1st round picks and Beasley would add up to 15. So no "high character guys" would be on the outs.
KD played on the same AAU team with Beasley back in DC. Green is from DC as well. This team of kids is very tight. Sometimes a kid is just a knuckle head and he needs to learn the hard way. And it doesn't matter who is surrounding him he will find trouble.
But I'm not sure how much you guys follow te Heat but it sounds like they party frequently. D Wade is going through a divorce where his wife is accusing him of sex parties and giving her an STD. Shaq recently said he is shocked that they won a title back in 06(?), because they were always partying.
That kind of enviornment along with the a big fat wallet can spell disaster to a 20 year old playboy/party guy/baller. It's not like this wasn't a concern for Riley even before the draft. It was documented before the draft that they were concerned with Beasley's maturity, and what South Beach could bring.
Sometimes grounded friends who have a history with you and are truly looking out for your best interest can keep you in check and keep you in the gym instead of at the club.
And sometimes guys just find a way to screw up, and if that's the case it's simply two second rounders who weren't going to make the team anyway.

I aggree! For two second round picks and the 10 millon owed to Michael it might not be a bad idea, to take a waiver and help thi kid out.
Krstic/Collison
Ibaka/Beasley
KD/Green
Harden/Tabo
Westbrook/Maynor
With White, Weaver, Mullens and the two first round picks as prospects. We have a very nice 10-man rotation we could tinker with. Plus Beasley has a Team Option next season. So if it dosen't work out we can just not excerise that option. Plus he would be a nice trade chip @ 5 million.

Re: Would you Trade...
So those who want to acquire Beasley cheaply then want to put him on the bench behind Durant or Ibaka/Green?
How many minutes are you planning on offering Beasely?
Adding Beasley may cost next to nothing, but you still have the investment of his salary and development. The addition of Beasley means the deletion of Green, Ibaka or Collison. All of whom are hardworking, high character players.
At the risk of someone making it a signature, I wouldn't acquire Beasley if Miami was offering a number one pick and asked for virtually nothing else in return. I am in no way intrigued by his "talent".

I would start Beasley and put Green and Ibaka on the bench. I would finish the Games with Ibaka, Beasley, Green, Durant, and Westbrook though.

i think the luster hasn't faded for you yet

forget the beasley from college, forget any positive numbers he can occasionally put up. this guy's mind is somewhere else, and the jersey thing may be an indication of a general impression around the league.
