Cheeks, Adams and possibly Ollie to the Bulls?

Post#1 » by DizzyDai » Sat Jun 5, 2010 7:19 pm

It seems that Mo Cheeks and Ron Adams may become assistant coaches for the Chicago Bulls. Kevin Ollie is even being considered for a player developement coach. I can barely believe this. Why did Presti assemble such a great coaching staff to help Brooks and co just to let it fall apart like this.

That's what happens when you have a great coaching staff. Other teams want your guys, and Sam has no control on who leaves. Sure it kind of sucks because they were great for our young players, but I'm sure Sam and Scott Brooks will find other qualified coaches to replace them.

Sam Presti has some measure of control. Adams and Cheeks aren't leaving for head coaching positions, presumably the Bulls are just willing to pay them more.

I don't think Mo Cheeks leaving would impact much but losing Ron Adams will not be good.

You guys should try to snatch Lawrence Frank. I hated him as a head coach, but he makes for a great assistant. I just don't know if his ego would accept it, let alone the pay cut.

I disagree, I think Westbrook has really come into his own under the tutalage of Cheeks.

Not to say Presti can't find anoher PG assistant to take Westbrook under his wing but I think losing Cheeks is going to leave some big shoes to fill.

Thunder would miss Adams a bunch, he's the strategist. Westbrook loves Cheeks. I hope the coaching staff stays together. Bennett and McClendon will have to get out the checkbook and make it worth their while.

But Kelvin Sampson would be a good replacement for Adams. I've no doubt Kelvin would like to return to Oklahoma and he's a great defensive minded coach. He's been a big part of the Bucks success this past season, been mentioned for some head coaching jobs, and working with Skiles can't hurt his defensive coaching.

I don't think many Oklahomans would be excited to see Sampson return to Sooner State. Myself included.

Cheeks and Adams were extremely important this season. In my opinion, they were a major reason why Brooks won CoY.

Would not hire Sampson on the college level, but there's no reason to hold animosity for him if he were to coach the Thunder.

I mean lets get real, as opposed to John Calipari ............ Sampson is an angel. And it seems Calipari has no problem getting better jobs, only because he keeps one step ahead of the investigators. How many schools is it now, that have NCAA problems after he leaves ??

College basketball reeks, its a cess pool, and for the powers that be to crucify Sampson for too many phone calls to recruits looks a bit on the hypocritical side. But hey, what is new for the NCAA huh ? Its all politics any way.

I prefer to keep it on the court, and Sampson's defensive mindset would be just what the Thunder need to replace Adams. This is not college ball.
