Power Forward

The Thunder still need to address a need to put them on the short list of a Championship Contender! A legit PF! Right now the Thunder have 15 players on their roster but I see Weaver being cut before Aug 1.

The Thunder will be about 6 million under the Cap. They can try to one of the Big 4 PF that are FA's this off-season or a trade Nick Collison and Morris Peterson who make a combined $13 million. I don't see either Collison or Peterson playing that much if the Thunder sign/trade for a very goof PF anyway.

The Thunder also need to add a PG. They can't just carry two PG's on the roster. Someone like Shawn Livingston knows the playbook and what Coach Brooks wants out of his players.

As for PF position I think this team is set with Green, Ibaka, White, Collison
And as for the 3rd PG just keep Weaver around
He can play both PG/SG

I think you're severely underrating Nick Collison's contributions to the team. He's probably our best big man currently.

Mo Peterson cannot be traded with another player for 60 days after the trade becomes official on July 8th. He can be traded on his own, though.

I think Sam Presti is willing to go another year with what we've got up front, with the addition of Cole Aldrich as a defensive center. I was hoping he'd take the opportunity now to seek the big front court upgrade we require offensively, but he did what most thought he would and is going to see if giving us more size at center fixes the problem 'organically'.

Since its not official yet can he still be traded?
Or in other words can it transform into a 3 team trade?

Yes, they can bring in another team if they want to.

so he can be paired with someone like say Krstic as long as it happens before the 8th

Yeah. It is just a proposed deal!

The Thunder have eight players who are young and need Min's in: Durant, Westbrook, Green, Ibaka, Harden, Maynor, Aldrich, and Thabo. Scottie Brooks used a 9-man rotation all of last season. I think Alrich will be used sparingly in his first season, so I wouldent be suprised if Brooks went to a 10-man rotation.

With Mullens, White, and Cook rounding out the reserves. The Thunder have MoPete, Kristic, and Collison on the roster of active players w/ a 12-man as a pg. A team needs 3 point guards just in case someone goes down. So that is why Weaver will be cut and a point guard will be brought in around August 1.
So my idea is to start Kristic @ center because thy wooed last year and move Green to a bench role, with Ibaka, Maynor, and Thabo. Which would leave a starting spot @ PF. We could let Collison b the "starting PF" like last season. But, I think it should come from the outside!

Not Krstic, Krstic can't be traded until he accepts his player option.

I was wrong, since we absorbed Morris Peterson with our cap space and did not go over the cap to acquire him the trade restrictions do not apply.

I thought the trade doesn't go into effect until July 8th?

Westbrook
Harden
Durant
Ibaka
Aldrich

with Maynor, Sefolosha, Green, Collison, Krstic off the bench. We can compete with that, not next year but a few years down the road with more maturity and growth with our young players.

I still think it's wishful thinking that this team will all be together more than a few more seasons. It will be impossible to keep ALL these players together.

sighs............

the old CBA and I'm assuming the new CBA will be structured so that you can keep your home grown players. Ownership has proven that they will spend if Presti thinks it can help the team. Chandler, Cook, Peterson, Thomas, Krstic.

The only player on our core team that will get the max is Durant. Maynor, Ibaka, Collison those guys aren't going to get paid very much. They are backups who have major weaknesses to their game.

The only guys other than Durant who might get paid a lot are Westbrook, Harden, and Aldrich. Harden might be a backup for another year or too and he isnt going to get paid as much as Westbrook. Aldrich might get paid depending on how he does, but that's a long ways away.

Id like to ask you this, who do you think will get paid too much to stay on this team?

I know you will say Green, I disagree, but keep naming them.

You're throwing out years like 5-7 years, some people say a decade. It's just not possible. If the team gets good enough to complete for titles, the role players will get overpaid by someone to start.

Say in four years we get to the finals or even win a title. You know what happens? Serge Ibaka gets a huge offer from someone. So does James Harden. Kevin Durant's option year will be coming up and he'll have to be extended again. It's just impossible to keep a team together for that long... egos get in the way, guys get offered starring roles elsewhere.

Portland is a perfect, perfect example. Their rookie deals are beginning to expire and their payroll is going to start ballooning. In a few years, do you think they'll be able to afford Batum, Oden (supposing he works out), AND get a new PG? It's just too difficult.

I guess if anyone can pull it off it's Presti.
