I wouldn't look too much into it just like the Nets "pursuing" Phil Jackson this seems to be a fabricated story to draw attention to the Nets IMO.

Literally every owner wants presti as their GM, he is probably the most sought after GM right now. His name is going to pop up every time that a GM spot opens up. It's just the nature of being the best
