Harden

Post#1 » by Tommy Sneakers » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:51 am

Why is everyone so high on Harden?
I'm not trolling or trying to bash him or anything. I would just like an explanation of what he does that makes him so valuable.

Shoots the 3, plays good defense, can handle the ball, above average vision, good size, good passer, good free throw shooter. His only below average ability right now is finishing at the rim. 38% from three and 81% ft from a rookie is damn good.

From the field last year he shot 41% and 44% at the basket. Now if we raise the 44% from the basket to something like 60% his total shooting from the season goes from 41% to 55% percent. Now not counting possible and-1's, just 2 points per basket, his ppg total would go from 10 ppg to 12 ppg

Very good defensive player, the 3 ball, dosent need the ball, can creat his own shot, can handle the point, very nice complemintry player. He is an All-Around type guy. I think the Thunder Top 4 (Durant, Green, Westbrook, and Harden) are all around guys who do the little things. I expect BIG things from Harden, as I do expcet Big things out of the Top 4!

That's his most glaring weakness. Westbrook could also learn to convert his drives better.

Drafting Harden was good, Getting rid of Livingston turned out to be a bad move because he played very well for the wizards. I understand that though.. Livingston didnt show any signs of a No. 3 pick when he played with OKC.

his conversion rate at the basket is quite low. One could make the arguement that its really great that he can get to the rim so often and easily...but unless he converts its almost the same as a turnover.

Harden has poor body control and can't finish with his right hand all that well. He does get to the line an awful lot, which makes up for some of his lousy % at the rim, but it's true he'll have to do better in that aspect if he wants to be a force.

I think he needs an in between game more than anything, though.
